this is a good story. I like the way it diverges from cannon but I would also like to see more of the consequences those divergences result in. For example the response of the Ino shika cho trio and the results of it.

As a matter of curiosity what happened to Naruto using and creating tags back in chapter 1? Are we going to see more of that?

There's actually a small misconception about chakra control and wasting chakra in jutsu that I'd like to clear up. For one, chakra control isn't actually some thing that you need to constantly work on with specific exercises like tree walking. Chakra is the energy a shinobi's body makes naturally, it is a part of them. controlling you chakra is like controlling any other body part; the more familiar and more used it is, the better your control would be. People constantly use their body, so it stands to reason that they can easily move in ways they want, however, shinobi don't always constantly use chakra. they don't get completely familiar with the act of controlling it until later in their careers, so there is no need for chakra control exercises anymore. Therefore, with Kage Bunshin, Naruto would be completely familiar with how his chakra moves and feels, giving him near perfect control before anyone else his age. Sakura only had an easier time with tree walking because she had less chakra to overload it with.

Speaking of, another misconception is overloading techniques with chakra only wastes it: not always true. With certain things like tree walking, overloading chakra blasts you away from the tree because a specific amount is needed for the technique to work to way it does, no more, no less. Other techniques though, like Goukyaku , Daitopa, etc. can use every bit of chakra pumped into them as long as the user knows what they are doing. The supposed wasted chakra that Asuma mentioned in this story can actually be directed into making the technique last longer, the target range to be wider/farther, or for the jutsu effect to be more intense/denser/more numerous. Considering that Naruto reworked his techniques and recreated them himself, I'd wager a guess that all the chakra is being put to use in some way.

As for him using 35% of his chakra and not realizing it, that would not be possible. Yes, most ninja only have a puddle compared to his lake, but that doesn't change the fact that he can constantly feel his lake of chakra. It is a part of his body, it is his energy, he would notice if 35% went missing, If someone goes shopping with $200 and spends $100, they quite obviously notice that they used half a total of their money. If a millionaire had $10 mil. and invested $5 mil. in a product, they don't just not realize how much money they used, they know for a fact they only have half of their starting money. No matter how much chakra Naruto has, if he were to use a significant amount of it, he would be aware of how much he used compared to his total chakra.

I hope everything I mentioned makes sense to you, I kind of tend to ramble when I give logical explanations of fictional theories.

Thank you. The majority of stories on this sight besides NaruSasu are NaruHina, and I always fucking hated that pairing because I always hated Hinata. I always hated her because of how she acted and her personality, but so far, I'm actually likeing what you've done with her character. That's a first.

Kurenai and Asume didnt have monikers because they werent that great ninjas. THey were average jonin with plot armor.

Gai was the "Green beast" by some who knew him, but only Kakashi was an s-class nin deserving of a monikor.

Well actually this has really captured my interest! Usually if I see Hinata placed on the same team as Naruto I stop reading. Your Hinata however is really interesting..while I hope she doesn't become a main character, it's still fine with me as long as she isn't paired up with Naruto.

I'm completely open when it comes to pairings, just.. never for NaruHina or SasuSaku...they're just so wrong...in my eyes anyway.

Who's going to the mission to wave? Team 7 or Team...Naruto? Since the Hokage has suspicions on Sasuke and his possible outcome, does that mean for sure for sure he'll go to Orochimaru in the end? If Team 7 ends up going to Wave, would Sasuke be the one to learn the lesson that Haku tought Naruto instead?

Will Haku or Zabuza be saved? Haku has always been a girly looking MALE...i have no idea why people portray him as female sometimes, is your Haku going to be M or F?

Will Karin be saved during the Chuunin exams by Sasuke? Or will Naruto be the one to save her, and hopefully on the way meet a far far away distant clan relative? Karin was rather adorable during the Chuunin exams, and really innocent looking. She's also I think a good support charater with her whole Sensory skills and maybe she'll find a way to heal with chakra alone, and have people biting her as a last resort?

Will Team Asuma meet Kabuto before the Chuunin exams? You know become a bit suspicious a tad bit earlier? OOOhhh I've been wondering about this since the first chapter... you know how Danzo is supposed to be evil and all? Well, Naruto has him in high regards right now, seeing as Danzo lit up Narutos almost distinguished flame :o So will Naruto trust fully Danzo? Or be cautious of him the next time they meet?

The whole giving Hinata a different byakugan and a back story I find really interesting, coz honestly she was a bit of a... I don't know how to explain it..but I really disliked her in Naruto, during shippuden she got bttr..but my views on her actions in Naruto overpower my feels for her sometimes.

While Hinata is fine.. I don't get why Kurenai got a small power up? You said Doton, right?

Sasuke doesn't seem as emotionally unstable as he was in the anime..so does that mean..there is chance that he wont be taken away by that snake pedo?

Hmm. Trying to figure out what might've made Sarutobi start caring like you asked and I'm not quite sure. Either he realized Naruto would go down a bad road if he didn't have any kind of support, or, it was after he killed his son as you mentioned and wanted to have someone innocent in his life.

I'm feeling like you were a bit inconsistent in regards to Naruto's taijutsu here. Asuma calls him a ninjutsu specialist a couple of times, and then we see him sparing with Sasuke and keeping up until the Uchiha uses his fully matured Sharingan. That's not bad at all; he's probably capable of beating even Kiba hand to hand in this point judging by the practical scenes. But again every time people talk about his taijutsu they go 'meh'. Really though I'd think just becoming faster than Sasuke and Hinata will be the edge he needs on them to keep up hand to hand.

In my opinion the way this story is coming together is great, the only thing I would suggest is more character development but that's a given with every great story

I hope you use the friendship between Nruto and Sasuke still :) Its the best bit of the series imo. Also hope we dont see HInata change super quickly. Having her not crushing on Naruto is refreshing. Asuma using the "lifes not fair line" on Naruto... rofl. yeah.

Ahh D-ranks the one thing all shinobi regardless of political alignment, heritage, social standing, Demon sealings, or even insane bloodlines can agree that they are soul sucking, skill rotting, suicide inducing, chores from hell. You want a way to peace have them bond over horrible D-rank mission experiences. You want to ally with that from grass but just can't seem to figure out just how to break the ice start reminiscing over the horror of your early genin days, D-ranks build more intervillage relationships then spies going native and summarly becoming their previous villages lison in an attempt to keep both villages intact.

And we got a bit of danzo (hope he pops up again after all a hokage can't rule a village effectively if he dosent have or wont make us of all the tools in his arsenal) One must tend to all parts of the tree for it to flourish.
Sasuke isn't hardlining the avengers don't have friends or even acquaintances thing.

Well, i suggest Naruto will be excellent in Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Bojutsu (Art of Staff) and if you can 'please' give Naruto a Kekkei Tota ability..maybe Naruto could make thunderstorm out of nowhere, by combining his Wind, Fire, Lightning and Water chakra affinity or Naruto has a superior ability in Space-Time Ninjutsu..

Never saw these teams coming! I like it and Hinata is certainly interesting. I kinda raised my eyebrows at the Hokage's reasoning for the teams though- he's neglected to care for their entire academy experience and now he does? (I'm of the opinion that he basically sabotaged Naruto's education through inaction in the academy; he should've had Naruto learning chakra control and fuuinjutsu exercises from the time he first entered school) And his thoughts on Sasuke were odd, as well, though in hindsight of canon it may do better for Naruto and Sasuke's friendship to not be comparing so directly every day at team training.

As for your poll question, I'm going to say no to Rinnegan or Mokutun for Naruto here, the story you're going for now doesn't seem like that'll work; and suprise!Senju reasons for mokutun in particular isn't always good. I would rather see Naruto explore his heritage, teach him as much about fuuinjutsu as possible. Have Asuma hone his wind nature early maybe give him a second one like water, and bust his ass to get his speed up before the time skip. Hell, even have him figure out how to use Kushina's chakra chains, those are always awesome!
