You really got me worried there at the end that Gohan would die and the virus would spread. After all this work from everyone fighting the virus, it would have been really annoying if this story wouldn't have a happy ending.
A real emotional rollercoaster for everyone and you gave evryone a role to play.
Good work, very imaginative and belivable in my opinion.

One little detail so (I believe it was in chapter 4) you mentioned Vegeta getting attached to people and one reason was because of Future Trunks death. As far as I remember he died after Cell regenerated from his Selfdistructionin the original). In this story Cell didn't come back, so Future Trunks didn't die and Vegeta wouldn't have went through the emotional tourmoil of loosing his son.

This is quite frankly one of the best fanfics I have read in recent years. Truth be told, I probably shouldn't have been reading this at all since what triggers my panic attacks is descriptions of heart disease and, with bad timing, anything regarding the heart itself or non-cold/flu diseases in general, but I'm glad I did. It reminded me that I don't have to have such a fatalistic mindset toward serious diseases; some of them already have treatment available, and mankind is working on treatments and cures for the ones that don't. Yes, there is still a very real, very high chance I or anyone else can easily die from a heart attack or stroke or anything else if it strikes suddenly enough and hard enough before anyone has a chance to lessen the damage. But right now, it doesn't loom over me as much as it has over the past year, since I first was affected badly enough by my mental illness to need medication (and has affected me since). Granted, my anxiety's not so frivolous as to disappear that easily, but this fic helped me to confront it. I was literally teetering on the edge of panic up until the end, but seeing everything work out okay was incredibly cathartic. Thank you for writing this; I needed to read it.

And, of course, it wouldn't have been nearly as effective if you didn't write well! There are a few hiccups with spelling here and there, but they don't significantly detract from the story. You did a very good job with keeping the forward tension up; I only stopped for a minute or two in the middle to eat and simultaneously detach myself a little from the situation.

I like how you characterized Goku and Chi-Chi, how you didn't portray him as endlessly hopeful and how you explained why Chi-Chi didn't want to give herself hope in fear of the worst. I like how you portrayed Vegeta and Gohan, Vegeta with his pragmatism lying just between the sentimentality he hasn't quite developed and the ruthlessness he had not so long ago, and Gohan with his kind nature being led by the same practicality born from his intelligence and his time learning under Piccolo. I like how you characterized everyone, really; they're all very fleshed out and very (dare I say it) human. Pls don't tell Vegeta. Haha. It's true, though.

I like the elements of real life you implemented into the plot. The evolution (or creation, I suppose) of the heart virus was very believable, and so was the process of finding the cure. I love how the virus mutated, and how the Briefs, as the brilliant minds they are, took precautions even before the mutation occurred to keep it from spreading. Perhaps this is why there was a cure in Mirai/Future Trunks' timeline? Maybe it ultimately evolved and attacked the lungs of humans before returning to the heart, forcing humanity to find the cure Trunks brought back about twenty years after Goku's death.

Last but not least, I love all of the little details you kept up with throughout the whole fic. I could always guess what was going to happen before I read it, but you kept everything so small and so simple that I almost wanted to second-guess myself, and that helped a lot with keeping the forward tension up. It never felt old, stale, or cliche, no matter how obvious a new plot point seemed to me. That's the sign of a truly good writer, I feel.

I love this fanfic, so, so much. Thanks again for writing it; it was a real pleasure to read.

what a beautiful ending! I thought that vegeta was going to kill gohan but luckily bulma and the others managed to find a cure in time. that was a close. what vegeta said made sense, it would easier to kill gohan so that they could him back. Prolonging gohan's suffering like goku suggested doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I know that vegeta's plan sounds kind of brutal but it's logical. great story and thank you so much accepting my request. I appreciate the time and effort you took into writing it with my prompts. I also appreciate you giving me partial credit for story. that's very flattering. : )

I just stumbled across this fic this morning and found myself reading the whole thing. One chapter left you say. Please have it out as soon as possible. I actually think Vegeta has a good point. At least if Goran was killed they could work on the virus and then wish him back when they have a cure. It's just unfortunate they can't do the same with Dende as there'll be no Dragon balls if he died.

You CANNOT end this off here, or leave us with a cliffhanger. This story is too good to not be continued.

update soon! oh my god! they may have to kill gohan! as brutal as it may seem, it does make a lot of sense. the virus will spread and gohan will not be wished back if the virus kills him. what a harsh reality.

...I think Gohan would have to agree with Vegeta (if it ever comes down to that decision) and, knowing it will be the only way to spare anybody else from the Heart Virus, he would ask to have his life ended before he dies from natural causes... And I believe, that the one to do it will have to be Vegeta (or 18, as a way to thank him for saving her [and her brother] from Cell), since nobody else will do it for him.

Also... It's obvious how much Piccolo and Dende care for Gohan; with him being like a brother to Dende, and Piccolo viewing him as his own son... But the question is: Will they let him be killed, even when they know he can be brought back with the Dragon Balls (which they'll going to have to wait for at least a year to use [unless they use the Namek Dragon Balls], since they already used the Dragon Balls after the Cell Games)?

One more thing... Krillin, if you tell Goku and/or Chichi, or anybody else about this, you know it's not going to end well... And you're gonna have to admit that Vegeta's right to what he said, and do what's best to save your surrogate-nephew.

wow a lot happened! I'm happy that they found a cure they just have to use the ingredients to make the medication which could take time and time may not be what they have considering how powerful the virus is. Vegeta is right and that is a scary thought. Please update soon.
