Hope this will be continued

I love this story and TOPF! They're the best, of an admittedly short list, of the Last Of Us / HP crossovers. I hope you will continue both along with your Avatar story!
The Dark One Rising chapter 3 . 11/3/2019
You’re one of the only people that writes for this crossover, and you’re damn good at it. I’ve got to say, I like this one more than TOBF. Harry’s character is more interesting there, but this idea is more original.
The Dark One Rising chapter 1 . 11/3/2019
Oh, interesting. I’m going to hope that magic somehow makes Hardy immune.

While I personally hate pretty much every character in TLoU because they're pretty much all immoral assholes, and even Ellie and her bullet-dad are both pretty selfish, this story is definitely more interesting that your Avatar story. It's a shame that's it's abandoned.

That story was a massive disappointment, largely because I think Avatar is an over-hyper, mediocre movie that's not a terribly interesting setting once you get past "oh, look, this is different than Earth" which you get plenty of in other fantasy and scifi. I also think that it's terribly claustrophobic with how the government and military seem to have a stranglehold on basically everything and there's no real freedom beyond eventually escaping to Pandora and that's all pseudo-Pocahontas nonsense that's ultimately kind of cringe-y and boring. The characters are all pretty typical. They're either the naive trusting type, the asshole xenophones, or something in between.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like a "dead end" sort of universe where there's not much room for growth. Everything has been set up to be, despite the scale of the environs, very small and closed off with basically two factions that will never truly be at peace, and one will eventually win. My money is on the government with real weapons that could probably do some orbital bombardment. I dislike "dead end" settings. I prefer something with a wider scope and with more possibilities.

Now, TLoU is also absolutely a dead-end story too. It's a post-apocalyptic world where society fell apart and failed to fight off an epidemic. The human race WILL die out unless there is a cure, and even then it would take quite a long time before the species recovers and anything resembling real progress is made again. With how violent people are against one another, they might kill themselves off even if there is a cure found. That said, it is a little more interesting to read about the characters involved because they're a bit less one-dimensional.

However, one major gripe I have with stories like this is that Harry is always nerfed from the start. He always loses his wand, or it breaks robbing him of his magic. Be it TLoU, or The Walking Dead, or even something like Tomb Raider, Harry always loses his wand or at least the vast majority of his resources. I personally think it's a failing of the writer that they can't come up with a way to make for an interesting story even if Harry has access to his magic. And to be quite honest, a Harry Potter without his magic is basically pointless. "Yer a wizard, Harry" is the definition of his character as an entity.

As an aside, I was pretty annoyed this one time that I read a HP/Tomb Raider story where the writer made it a point to mention that Harry kept basically everything he owned from his money, books, magical artifacts, etc. etc. all inside of a bag he kept on him at all times. Th story starts with Harry flying near an island (on which Lara Croft was, presumably it was the setting of one of the more "modern" TR games), got stuck in a story, dropped his bag into the ocean, and crashed onto the island I think losing his broom. Or magic carpet. Whatever he was using to fly. I forget if kept his wand or not, but it was irritating that writer wasted time mentioned all these resources just to throw them away in the first chapter. Because apparently Harry can't use a summoning charm to grab his entire life's savings and all of his property from being lost in the ocean. I forget if there was even a justification that didn't come later to try and excuse his lame choice.

I digress.

I would like to see less stories go the lazy route of robbing Harry of all or most of his magic by doing away with his wand. His magic is basically 99% of why I read anything HP related.

You have a tendency to drop stories to the side don't you. It's a pity cause this looked like it was going to be a good one too.
