Also, not sure how long it takes to be an MD in England. But in US it's 8 yrs of school and then minimum 2 to 3 years as a resident. So at age 30, saying John has been in Army {if joining after med school, as indicated} for years seems like a stretch.

Okay, first off, I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS STORY! I FELL IN LOVE WITH Sherlock ad watched all 4 seasons in two days but I didn't want to try writing fanfiction- I am also a fanfiction writer, though I'm currently based on Wattpad only- for Sherlock because if there's one thing I always make sure that I'm confident enough in when writing characters, is how to write their personalities using my own words and until I feel I can write Sherlock himself without needing 3 hours to form the perfect sentence, I'm good with trying to read others writing Sherlock to see how I should do it...and let me say, YOU ARE SIMPLY THE BEST! I've never read another author who has been able to write Sherlock in their own way but still make him sound like...well, Sherlock! On a side note, look up Caracal babies and bask in the glory of how adorable they are! Like seriously...it has to be criminal on how cute they are as kittens! Anyways, let me just say thank you again!
