![]() ![]() AWESOME! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wow that was awesome |
![]() ![]() ![]() A chilling (no pun intended) tale. Looks like the past caught up with poor Tarleton. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Holy shit. Bravo. That was amazing. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I seen a lot of stuff, and it takes a lot to bother me, but this Cthulu type stuff demands chills down my spine. Had me reaching for my rifle. |
![]() ![]() ![]() A nice, creepy tale; well-paced and enjoyable. I hope you write more in a Lovecraftian vein. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Ooh, nasty. You know, I feel sorry for the dogs. I mean, the men should've known better than to seek knowledge that mankind was not meant to know, but the dogs didn't exactly sign up for this... |
![]() ![]() ![]() A clever mix of Lovecraftian references and Norse history - for those familiar with Leif Eriksson, anyway. |
![]() ![]() ![]() As soon as I see the name Whateley, I know there's going to be trouble. A nice slow-burn approach; very Lovecraftian. I shall read on... |
![]() ![]() ![]() congratulations, you britt. it was a really awesome fic. keep writting |
![]() ![]() ![]() This puts an original spin on the "ancient, scary stuff happens in the Arctic/Antarctic" plot that Lovecraft used himself more than once. You have to wonder why anyone would agree to join a Miskatonic University field trip anywhere, since they all seem to be such suicide missions! It's also a nice touch to use the "understanding" coroner as an explanation for why all the weird events never get the publicity they probably would in real life. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wonderful novella! Your description of the cold would probably send Lovecraft into fits considering his own fear of subzero temperatures. Made me shiver alright! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'm really excited about the Norse elements introduced in Chapter 3. Norse mythology is inherently Lovecraftian in my opinion (or if we're speaking chronologically Lovecraft was inherently Norse-mythologyish). The Midgard Serpent and Ragnorak all seem like something straight out of a weird fiction tale. The Arctic setting also gets to me personally. I've spent quite some time with my family in Newfoundland, and I think it'll be creepy to go back there again, especially with the old Viking ruins at L'Anse aux Meadows. Great work! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Very good start, made me want to read more. I'll be interested to see how your story differs from At the Mountains of Madness! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Sounds like you've got a real chiller (if you'll forgive the pun) going her Morris! Can't wait to read more. You've incorporated Lovecraft's fear of the cold masterfully into the character of Jack Tarleton. It's like if the guys from "At the Mountains of Madness" made it back and got PTSD (well, Dyer and Danforth, but that's besides the point). Love it. Post more! |
