Pretty sure this fic is meant, either knowingly or at least subconsciously, in the HFY zone. Not only that, but do remember that all of the races that make up the Federation are military minded. They just spent awhile try to off each other with no mercy, followed by waging a civil war/180 face turn war for another while. Then we have the Flood showing up, oh and then the Didact and his MOON sized ship. We even have a little while later two NOVA bombs being used by terrorists.

At this point, the Feds mindset is, in my opinion, the Greater Good by Military Might and Blackmail. They're going to stomp on your rights, play with your morals and traditions, and then blackmail you to get what they want. Galaxy wide security. Another Sovereign species wants and desires don't factor in.

Personally, I feel they are kinda like China. Obey the state and you'll be fine. Disobey, and you might vanish if you cause enough problems. As for other races beyond them. They probably don't care how they're seen as long as they get what they want.

Great Job so far and I am enjoying your story. I just have an issue with your time line. You have Jocab Keys as a commander in 2525 when he is a lieutenant in 2535 when he is forced to take command of the Midnight Summer in the book Cole Protocol. Also the Pillar of Autumn was mothballed then returned to service in 2552 for the mission for Spartans to end the war. Again great job if you plan to follow the time line briefly before diverging please research or just use personal created characters.

Now that I think about it... Why did the prophet's race become a Reclaimer? The race as a collective did close to nothing. Extremely far from trustworthy enough to become equals.

Sucks that it took several years to get close what was teased in the summary. I can't imagine the frustration of those who started reading when it first came out.
