This was so lyrical in the way you described their life and her thoughts on it. It captures the "us vs. the world" thing I think Jennifer Morrison described her and Henry's new NY life, that it's almost alien to her right now to wonder if she and her mom somewhere out there have similar tastes. I don't think the curse actually put in a lot of triggers per se, but it's head canon for me that while Emma's life may be happy, she feels it's incomplete somehow, that something is lacking even though she's content. You've just hit the nail on the head with how all this would feel to her and the vivid way you compare it to hot chocolate and cinnamon, that "words laced with promises, love and hope, like specks of cinnamon in her cup of hot cocoa," just makes this work so well. Well done.
