Bonny chapter 24 . 2/21/2019 Please give us some update, I really loved this fanfic! |
BrettVT chapter 24 . 6/7/2016 Nooooooo where's the end? it's SOOOO GOOOD! |
Serithus chapter 24 . 4/4/2016 Damn, pretty intense chapter. Great as usual! |
Theodur chapter 24 . 4/3/2016 That was appropriately brutal. Just adds a level of poignancy that these two armies would be tearing themselves apart with the darkspawn nearly upon them. Honestly, the 'victors' almost deserve to be torn apart by the rampaging horde - this battle was a crime against the people of Ferelden. I guess Alfstanna now understands more just what kind of a man Araris is, one that would sacrifice any of them as pieces just to achieve a goal. I wish she wouldn't think that his way is the right way, though. For even those so high up on the chain of command to not be told the specifics of the plan is crazy. It might have worked on this occasion, but I just don't see that as a good practice. I wonder what the next chapter will be like. 'The darkspawn feasted well?' :) I mean, Ferelden isn't a country with very large population. To replenish these armies after a battle such as this seems almost impossible. Excellent stuff. |
William chapter 24 . 4/2/2016 So the battle continues, and Leonas... is dead. Wow, it seems that with every big battle Araris engages into, prominent people that he have known dies. I was really saddened when Amell died because she was by far, my favorite character - even if her role was short - after Araris. Well does it mean that his daughter, Habren, now rules over South Reach? Hmm... it would mean chaos then, especially that that brat only knows how to spend her father's money on some rubbish vice or things, I feel pity for those that's to be serving under her rule. There's a typo that I've notice on the first paragraph, on the second to the last sentence; you've put her instead of him. Anyway, nice battle scene and the ending was really a cliffhanger I tell ya; with the Darkspawn attacking, I wonder what will happen with the battle now that Cauthrien fled the field while Araris and Farah'an are still both engaged in a duel. Great chapter once again! |
Theodur chapter 23 . 3/29/2016 Fascinating. One of these days I need to try my own hand at scripting and writing such a large scale battle. It seems pretty exciting. Even as a child I loved reading historical accounts of ancient battles... though they weren't as graphical as this, but still this sort of thing is close to my heart. The rebels appear to be very close to winning though. Breaking the center doesn't really help after one of your flanks is pretty much gone, you can no longer divide and conquer. I suspect the next chapter will be the mopping up of Cauthrien's army, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. |
No Tears Only Dreams chapter 23 . 3/27/2016 Hey, Finally getting around to that review I promised awhile back. I absolutely loved the last two chapters. You write battle scenes really well. It was easy to follow along and get a full scope of the battle between the two armies and the description of the fights was poetic in it's own gruesome way. To be honest my interest in the story waned when the story sort of stagnated in action and delved more into the political/tactical side of things but that is most likely due to my simple-minded interest in epic battle scenes where rivers of blood freely flow. The last two chapters reminded me of why I liked this story so much and I'll remember to review more often. Keep up the good writing, Nic |
William chapter 23 . 3/27/2016 Oh, I didn't know that that was the reason behind using it, but I'm glad that you abide by my suggestion, thanks for that. So this chapter is pure fighting scenes eh, which is well written and I did notice that Araris was only mentioned by the most part in this chapter that lead me to believe that his role in the next chapter or so, will be the turning point of this cruel battle. The strategy of Araris is good, but it seems that for it to achieve its completion, he needs to sacrifice a whole lot of numbers of his own men - who's blind faith in him led them to their deaths - just to stir them to the right choke points of his strategy. This chapter also states that war is really brutal and unforgiving, people you know and have grown with could perish at any given time. Nice chapter again! |
Theodur chapter 22 . 3/20/2016 I very much enjoy the detail in setting up the upcoming battle. This was a great read. I have to say, throughout the chapter, I was getting the feel that Araris is almost certain to win the battle, and whenever I encounter something like that in fiction, I immediately start to root for the perceived underdog. Of course, there are more reasons why I rather... dislike the guy. In contrast to the very human doubts of Cauthrien and Alfstanna, his cocky arrogance and confidence rubs me the wrong way. Also, the way he simply dismisses the (who-knows-how-genuine) offer for truce? That seemed almost criminal. Would all those under his command agree with this decision to fight when truce was an option? It's almost as if he's making everyone fight for his personal vendetta against Howe. So yeah, that's kinda why I would like to see his gruesome downfall, even though I understand there's not much hope of that happening! An excellent chapter! |
Badger2430 chapter 22 . 3/19/2016 WTF you cant leave it on a cliffhanger devil. people are to stupid to realize this is one of the best written stories. You give me high expectations and boy do you deliver. |
capitained chapter 22 . 3/19/2016 Awesome! |
William chapter 22 . 3/19/2016 Hey there! I like the story you're writing, because it really seems realistic compared to other fairy tale stories I've read which is unrealistic with all the happy endings and such which is hardly possible given the fact that they are in the midst of a war and death is inevitable. Uh might I suggest something? Can you use quotation marks when writing a dialogue? It's better to read if that is what you use cause it's more visible to see. Looking forward for more. |
Guest chapter 21 . 1/26/2016 awesome continue! |
Serithus chapter 21 . 1/20/2016 Wow that was brutal. Goes to show how much Araris dislikes betrayal and all. He seems to be getting pretty dark, and appears to be on an even darker path if no one intervenes beforehand. (Maybe Anna :3) |
Theodur chapter 21 . 1/20/2016 Araris is a really difficult character for me to like. I hope it's kinda how you've intended him to come across. Something about his ruthless efficiency that I find scary, almost to the point where I don't want him to succeed. The interaction with Alfstanna was telling, I think. It really seems like there's a potential conflict brewing there. I wonder how far she'll be able to support him if he keeps fighting for reasons she disagrees with. I rather enjoyed Lim's brief part in the story. She was entertaining, as was her demise. I think the militia training worked well during the Leonas/Alfstanna talk. It created a very vivid backdrop of a military camp to their conversation, so yeah, I think it was good stuff! |
