Sorry Jay—you can't ever get anything past Alfred. Nice try, though. (Cigarettes are about as close to the opposite of a cure-all as you can get, buddy).

Poor Jay. Not only can I see that scene in my head, but now I can feel it too. He's so miserable, both about the illness itself AND getting abandoned by Bruce for the night :( And I really am loving that Dick's been tied into it too. I wonder what he ran downstairs for...or is he responsible for Bruce coming back upstairs, I wonder?

Oh, perfect! Dick is helping out too (not in the singing way) while Jay gets that much-needed bonding time with Bruce while getting over his illness. Aaaah it works out brilliantly.

I'm adoring the little touches here and there of this bond getting stronger. Bruce wrapping Jason up in the cape, Jay hesitantly getting used to sitting next to him, and especially Jay just feeling so much better just because Bruce is THERE. One of the things that struck me about the comic-scene was that look of absolute adoration Jason gets when he realizes Bruce is there and going to stay with him even when he's sick and useless on the streets instead of going out on patrol, and it's expressed so well here.

Ouch, little bit of angst, and poor Jay, trying to apologize for something he couldn't even have known...but this is YJ Bruce we're talking about, so it's nice to see him actually taking a healthier perspective on the movie instead of turning it into yet another thing to angst over.

Ooooh perfect way to finish it off, with so much fluff...I always wondered how the bat suit could be comfortable to lean on, but apparently it is. And there can't be any place much safer to fall asleep than right next to a fully armored protective Daddy!Bats when you're his kid. It's sweet to see Jason still getting used to the concept that he's allowed to actually interact with his family, especially Bruce, but it's also wonderful to see him finally letting himself fall asleep snuggled against Bruce, too. that's a pretty big step forward for Jason and it's so great to see him finally starting to trust more. Not to mention it helped BRUCE out, too; it's not just Bruce being there for Jason, it's the other way around as well. (And can I just say I also love that little touch about them both pretending not to notice each other when Bruce finally carries Jason to his room—which is another adorable fluffy image by the way—because that is exactly them, taking a kind of quiet sort of comfort out of each others' presence while being careful to not get called out on it because God forbid they show emotions).

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, and yes, the fluff and a still-alive Jason is so nice to see after that traumatizing cliffie in the other fic. Thank you so much for doing this for me—I definitely feel in much higher spirits and I'll have something fluffy to think on when I head for bed, too. You are amazing!
