bandbalso chapter 1 . 3/12/2014 I really like this story. I always wondered how Fritz would handle things if he got the urge and couldn't reach his sponsor. i also wondered if Brenda would truly ever be able to provide the support he really needs. Fritz's need for continual propping up is the reason I was always upset at the way the episode where Brenda discovered his DUIs was resolved. He never gave her a chance to make an informed decision and really consider if she could handle being his support for the rest of her life. He waited until she had really fallen in love with him and had already agreed to marry him before he owned up, and only did it then under duress. I really think she stayed with him then because she had realized she didn't want to be alone but probably didn't really consider what it would involve from her side of things. She didn't have enough info about alcoholics and AA at that time to make that kind of decision - Fritz had robbed her of the chance to obtain this knowledge. In this story, she really finds out what marriage to him involves, and fortunately she is able to provide what he needs. It could just as easily have gone the other way. |
SunKat chapter 1 . 2/16/2014 You have been missed, PQ. This story is like a fine gemstone. Perfect in it's emotion and pain of Fritz struggling with his addiction, and Brenda worrying in what she might find. Perfect in it's love in that Brenda takes immediate action to get to Fritz's side. She becomes his strength and light, and power to ward off his addiction. Perfect in that you show the real, true, and deep love between Brenda and Fritz. Thank you. |
Guest chapter 1 . 2/16/2014 PQ is back!. You have been away far too long. Thank you for another one of your great stories. So much love in this one. Brenda is growing up,and has grown so much in her love of her Fritzi. Please, when the muse strikes again, and you want to put pen to paper(so to speak),would love to read another one of your stories! Bravo! |
BeebleZeeble chapter 1 . 2/16/2014 This is so great! You truly have a gift for capturing the characters and the essence of The Closer, and still maintaining your own voice. I love your sense of restraint; you have a talent for saying a lot by saying very little. I also enjoy that your story reflects the growth and improvements Brenda has made, and the depth of their relationship. You are a truly talented writer, if you ever start writing original stories please let me know, I would love to read them! |
Labyrinth01 chapter 1 . 2/16/2014 I was blown away to see a story from my beloved PQ! What an incredible surprise! That was reason enough to leave a bouquet of roses at your feet, but then I read this story, and I read it again, and I read it again...and I added a large box of chocolates to the roses. You put so much intricately beautiful pain and passion in such a short, dense story. I feel like I've read chapters and chapters, with all the emotion you have put in here. Wow. I really felt how Fritz was helplessly squeezed by the hand of addiction, swallowed by the darkness. Your writing was so descriptive. Before I become inarticulate goo, let me summarize what I loved the most, besides the intensity and the beautiful writing. In the season of hearts and romance and superfluous displays of love, you showed us what love and commitment really is. It's rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty. It's being there. Thank you, PQ. Please, please write more. |
ManateeMama chapter 1 . 2/16/2014 YAY! She's back! Oh, how I've missed your stories. And this little gem is certainly no departure from the quality you've maintained. So often we've seen Fritz as the strong one, the savior of Brenda - in short, the perfect one. But you've shown us reality. You've shown us a man who does battle with demons and occasionally loses. And you've shown us a Brenda who has really grown in her ability to love. You've shown us a Brenda who can give without holding back, a Brenda who is finally in tune with what is important in her life and who is spurred into action without thinking about the weight of lesser things. Thank you for this wonderful Valentine delight. But all coins have two sides. Now that you're back, you're going to have to answer to the rabid demands of your fans. We want to read MORE from you. |
