The ending is just as sad every time I read the manga or see the anime. You have captured it beautifully.

You cry because like most of us we think that Atem should have been given another chance. He died so young saving his country and family. He gets to come back only to do the same and save the world and then he gets to dies again. It was not fair. I like your take on the duel.

I really liked your characterization, it was well done and even if the manga/anime didn't mention it, I'm sure the words were implied to Yugi.

AHMAHGAD, DarkHeart! That was beautiful. I really hated the ending of the manga/anime. You made the ending seem far kinder, far more sentimental. :) It was lovely. You did a great job.

Kazuki Takahashi created some very compelling characters and a story with very compelling themes, especially for a show that most people assume was made to sell trading cards. I think that's why it resonates so well 10 years later. I enjoyed the initial run of the series on Saturday mornings back then, but, now, having gotten back into it with the manga and the original Japanese fansubs/Hong Kong Subs, I'm seeing so much more in the series now. I'm glad that there are others who feel the same way.

This is so sweet. I almost didn't want to read it because I knew it would be bittersweet and hurt my poor sensitive heart - and it is, and it did - but I'm glad I gave it a shot because it was so wonderfully written. It also gives another ounce or two of closure, saying so many of the things I wanted to hear Atem say to Yugi before he departed.
