Before even reading this introduction, the summary made this story seem amazing! I think you should continue this, it's a great idea!

But I have seen snow. A lot of snow recently; two feet yesterday and today. I'm getting sick of it, to be honest.

Interesting... Very interesting. Enough so the reader has some clue of the situation, but still omitting enough to keep some sense of mystery. (I'm hoping the next chapter is longer though ;) I'd like to see more.)
