Dear author, I love ANBU Kakashi and I adore the idea of him taking a brilliant but awkward Itachi under his wing. Both of these characters were so underserved in canon, and while I saw similarities in Kakashi and Sasuke - this fic opened my eyes to all the way Kakashi and Itachi were similar as well. I don't know if the Uchiha massacre occurs in your AU, but I like think that if it did... a big part of the reason why Kakashi is invested in Sasuke is because he failed not just obito, but his kouhai. I loved reading this dynamic between Kakashi and Ita; it humanized Itachi so brilliantly and I appreciate how liberated Itachi felt in the end. This was such an awesome read; thank you so much for writing and sharing it with us!

Imagine Kakashi being the support that Itachi needs to stop the Massacre. Then imagine Itachi staying in the village and finding out Sasuke's sensei is Kakashi and then praying and warning his otouto of how no training could prepare him for Kakashi.

That, was glorious.

While I do want more, I think that it's best consumed as a oneshot.

I need more of this ;-; Itachi and Kakashi’s relationship as captain and subordinate has always intrigued me, and I always thought of Kakashi being as he is in canon, treating Itachi with amusement and maybe being close to him at one point. This fulfilled my Kakashi and Itachi companionship needs.

I love this. Even moreso now that we know them being on the same team is canon.

Nicely written. I love the way Kakashi is deconstructing Itachi and Itachi just doesn't get it. Wise!Kakashi helping out Obito's little cousin. This story is lovely as it is, but I would love to find out more if you ever come back to it. It seems to me that a deconstructed Itachi would be much less likely to carry out the massacre.

I've always wondered what Kakashi would consider to be worse. Betrayal or death? If not for Obito, Kakashi would have believed that all Uchiha were betrayers. Actually, considering Obito, they are. Except Itachi.

I was wondering if this is just a shot? I wanted some more.. Haha

Great little one shot, even though Itachi seems a tiny bit ooc; perhaps if he'd been a bit more naive, (since Itachi's an old man inside) maybe his character would have been like at 8? 9?
Note: The age difference between Kakashi and Itachi's is 7 years, so if Itachi is supposed to be 11 here, Kakashi would be 18.
