Do you know I had absolutely no interest in Shunsui and Nanao? I love the captain's character but I've never been sold on the idea of them. You just completely won me over in one little story!

The characterisation is brilliant and the story flows perfectly, they drift together in such a small amount of time but so believably. Thanks so much for a wonderful read!

This is really sweet. It's not only the kind of sweet story that leaves you smiling, but more than that, it makes you satisfied and... full. And it's not surprising, considering the story is also full of in-depth characters' manifestation, interesting dialog, and great description.

Loved it. At first I thought Nanao was a child, but I could tell from some of Shunsui's thoughts that she's more teenage(?)/young adult.

What a lovely flashback! I've always enjoyed the way you comb through the manga for the pertinent details about Shunsui and especially Nanao (I reread chapter 559, where Shunsui tells Nanao that her kido skills were not the only reason he promoted her- very crafty to then write a piece about that story!). Your attention to who these characters are reflects in all of your work- I remember Trials of Nanao Ise also featured Nanao's kido skills over her swordsmanship, which is the sort of extrapolation that can only come with really thinking about who the characters are. Even in more light-hearted pieces like this one, you juggle these tensions and implications exceedingly well- like the humor at work against the real darkness in Shunsui (I have a difficult shikai).
