Not sure how I feel about that. You seem to want to follow realism as best you can, but the Team Rocket thing shits all over the laws of both our world, and the pokémon world. If a simple water gun from a low level Staryu was powerful enough to launch a group of pokémon AND people what I assume to be a good dozen metres, how does any pokémon last against a single good hit? Even if gas is flammable, it wouldn’t explode in such an open area. There’d be a huge burst of flame, but that’s about it and even if there WAS an explosion, it would mutilate and dismember their bodies before sending them flying, at most, a few metres. But you have them fly straight up through a roof and out of sight... if they didn’t die from the explosion, they should die from the fall. But they won’t, because you seem to like how the anime handles them. As iconic as it is, it’s stupid.

ok. here's my final review as of the end of kanto arc

this is a must read fanfic! the author takes the time to flesh out Ash's immaturity and naivety found in the anime and shows how ash slowly grows up. he doesnt just become a better trainer but a more mature individual overall. granted, he is 11 so the character development is quite slow, but it is also very rewarding when you see it to the end. I, for one, had an amazing time reading this arc and will begin reading the next arc immediately! Good work Mr. Author and I hope all the new readers have as much fun as I did and more when reading!

Good development. I just hope spoiler alert spoiler alert spoiler alert leaf and gary end up together. even though right now they are separated, I want them to not get a love interest while leaf is away. just my personal opinion...

also, sorry author if I make it seem like I am hating or bashing you or this ff. I don't mean that at all! I love the ff so far. I simply want to point out some of the parts that ticked me off. I tend to point those out more often than the good parts of the story. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that other than the few parts I mentioned, I absolutely love the rest of the story. so keep up the great work!

One thing I don't get is how they are still so reckless. I mean, it keeps saying that ash matured during his journey but he is still recklessly and stupidly charging headfirst into a storm. The fact that they survived the first time (the blizzard) should have been a wake up call and he should have been more cautious about it this time. he cant expect things to work out just because they are determined.

this is what ash said: I don't think it's going to end for us, Gary. something good has got to happen. we were the trainers brave enough to take these waves on no matter how bad the storm is. there is no way we are going to go like this.

Where is the logic in that? just because you decided to stupidly charge headfirst into a typhoon doesn't mean that you will have the good luck on surviving.

I get that there could be someone listening but aren't they supposed to be master aura/psychic users? shouldn't they be able to detect if others are listening in? Also, even if there is someone who could be listening, couldn't Red have made a telepathic link using aura to tell Ash and Delia about what hes been doing?

will Ash, or anyone else, kill Giovanni? I really want this to happen. While Ash may be naive in thinking that just by beating him, team rocket will end and will stop being a threat, the other adults like blue and yellow should know better. With all the crimes Giovanni committed, he deserves the death penalty and it would be bullcrap (keeping it G lol) if he didn't die.

Is there going to be a serious divergence from cannon in the future? ex. ash and his friends miss the day where they were supposed to foil team rockets plans (in canon) because they were held up by something on their journey.

Is there ever going to be a human, non-mob, character death in the book?

I kinda wish that the torture scene wasn't just limited to chatmander but also ash and serena. I feel that the experience should make a much bigger impact in removing a lot of his naivety and recklessness.

after all, removing some of ash's recklessness seems to be the point of the torture scene. this was to force ash to learn that rashness can have dire consequences for him and those he cares about. he needs to learn to act rationally.

I get that he is a kid (11yo) but that is the exact reason why he shouldn't put himself into these sorts of situations. I feel that ash needs a voice of reason that stops him from the decisions he makes when he hears that someone is in trouble. frankly, a character that can tell ash that its not his job to meddle in TRs plans is necessary.

I understand that ashs sometimes overbearing sense of justice is a crucial part of who he is and that as the mc he needs some way in which he can get involved in the TR plot. I am not trying to criticize you or the story (love it btw). I am just trying to point out that ash doesnt NEED to waltz right into every dangerous situation and expect the plot armor to get him out of it safely. he was lucky this time that nothing happened. but he needs to understand that
1. it could have been much MUCH worse. serena could have been raped (yes, I wouldn't put pedophilia past them). ash, his pokemon, and his friends could have been tortured and killed. etc
2. he is being threatened with his family back in palet town. if he gets caught (key word "gets caughtmeddling with TR again, his mom, serena's mom, or prof oak could all be attacked, or worse. he needs to do something now that he is threatened. he can try telling the police or he can at least let Professor oak and his mom know so that they can be prepared or cautious in case tr tries something.

anyways, didn't mean to rant. sorry about that. keep up the good work and love the story so far.

Alright, I started reading this monster of a story a few weeks ago and now I'm finally done ... with the first Arc at least xD
First of all: I'm amazed. This is probably one of the greatest things I've ever read and the best thing is, I kinda knew it would be amazing even before I started reading. Long stories are not automatically good of course but I just had a feeling...
To make it short I just liked everything about it. Your determination as a writer, the characters themselves, especially the smarter Ash, the character development, the Pokemon our heroes had, Team Rocket, and of course the amourshipping parts.
To summarize it. Everything was juuuuust riiiight if you get what I mean. There wasn't anything too extreme/crazy or out of "order". Not too much focus on one thing/character. It was juuust riiight... like a puzzle with a million pieces and every piece fit first try... Sorry I have no better way to express it xD. This thing just left me speechless.
Okay. I'm gonna continue reading the other Arcs now until I caught up,

Hello again! As promised in doing a final review of the entire story here!
And let me tell you, I was not disappointed in the slightest with this story! I loved it fro. beginning to end and cant wait to start reading the next arc!
That doesn't mean there are parts I missed from the original or was questioning why you did certain things the way you did but I the end it all turned out amazingly!3333
Things I kind of missed:

SOME of team rockets sillyness;
now keep in mind the anime is older then me and even I get VERY annoyed at seeing team rocket act like complete goofs almost very episode, but that doesn't mean there wasn't times were they manage to amuse me with some of their antics. I will say that I still really enjoyed the more serious and deadly team rocket you portrayed here so I'm not really that upset. Besides, you still included their silly motto and Bunch 's name mix up(its Butch!) so it's all good in the end.(plus the anime is targeted for a younger audience so it's only natural that they make the bad guys goofy and doing silly and ridiculous stuff very episode to try to amuse kids...)

Rhyhorn:
with this I'm talking about how every time Serena meets one or a bunch of rhyhorn, they all seem to love her and shower her in affection. Now I'm not sure where the pokemon xy anime was when you started writing the kanto arc and the times there was a rhyhorn I makes seen that it didn't charge serena like the anime(Paul's was focused on the battle, and Brocks either never saw her directly or was helping misty get free from that bolder) but I still missed it. I was just a silly running gag that I was hoping to see in your story but it seems it either didn't fit somewhere or you had a reason for not doing it

bonding time:
this I get, you needed to keep the plot moving or as you said before, the story would have taken probably twice as long to write, and you did try to include bits here and there but I still missed reading about some...

overall though I loved this story! there were points where i wasn't sure where you were going with this like having ash use aroedactal in the league then go on a rampage but you surprised me and made it one of the most memorable pokemon stories i have read in a long time
