Well it is fairly good but I have read the light novel and essentially there is about no difference to the plot or impact naruto has in being here he basically is just replaced the other Kamito with you using the same dialog as the first chapter of the light novel with little no no difference in between this and the light novel.

No idea about canon, but seems to me this whole thing was very much following canon almost to the letter. Personally, I want to Naruto to say "No, Fuck you" to her, and if she persist use the fact that he saved her life against her. I have no idea about the anime, but I'm getting this similar feeling than Zero no Tsukaima, and the last thing I want to read is the main character being another "familiar". The story is interesting thus far though, I'll be following it.

Um... it looks like the Novel and you just replace Kamito with Naruto and there conversation and such too if you ask me
