Your friend is very wise. ;) This episode kinda broke my heart so I was hoping some alternate fanfic versions would appear. This is perfect, not only because of the wish-fulfillment aspect of Mash not being interrupted at the inn and dragged back to the palace - and my hope that in your version they do get away and stay together - but because you progressed their emotional bond and Mary's awareness of what Bash means to her. Although she showed some concern for him in the actual episode, she was still too attached to Francis for my liking. I feel like she's more over him, here, and more committed to Bash - although not unrealistically so - no declarations of love yet but that's okay. Actions speak louder than words anyway. :) Hope you write more!

Well thank you for improving a scene that was all too short and unsatisfying in the show! Great characterization, no really, that's what makes it makes the fic truly enjoyable to read and not just sex-that-could-be-had-by-anyone-and-who-cares? I love how this was REAL and raw and messy and clumsy and full of laughter and tearful awe and everything I think makes Mary/Bash more of a Real Love... not a fairytale illusion of love like Mary/Francis.

Well, thank goodness she realized that after all. :) I find it sad that Mary couldn't actually tell Bash she loved him at the end, even though she was thinking all these loving thoughts before...but hopefully she'll tell him someday, even if he doesn't expect her to. Especially because he doesn't expect her to. :)

Oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH. This was so amazing. The third to last paragraph was wonderful. All of it was wonderful. Oh my goodness. This was amazing! I think..I think you should make another one shot, in the same fashion...about when Bash found out Mary's plan, or something. Oh gosh. I'm riveted. Marry me, please. Then write me stories forever.
