Great story! I really enjoyed the easy camaraderie between Gobber and Stoick. You captured their friendship perfectly, in my opinion. Gobber's whole attitude is also impressive. I can easily see him being the forgiving sort.

One line that really stood out was when Gobber said one day Hiccup wouldn't remember what it was like to have a leg. That really made me pause, because it's so true. We never think of kids losing limbs, do we?

Your writing really flows well, and this is one of the rare times when I have no constructive criticism! Great job. :D

One of the best Goober/Stoick fics I've read. You've captured their personalities greatly, with Gobber's wise and forgiving ways, and Stoick's slow acceptance and great respect.

Good concept on Hiccup having been the one to originally design the leg for Gobber. That's the first I've read of a concept like that, and I'm surprised that nobody else thought of it sooner. Very original and genius!

Oh, yes! I'd been wanting to see more of this friendship, and getting it coupled with such a lovely "missing" scene from the movie's end just ices the cake.

And, randomly, I'm looking forward to seeing the sequel address the matter of just *how* one rides a Monstrous Nightmare when it does its signature move. Honestly, I foresee more of what you described here ;)
