I loved this 3 You write them both in ways that make me think it is really them. If I had to pick, I'd say this was my favorite part:

"Sometimes he thinks it strange that their friendship is based on secrecy, but the thought never lingers.

"Without the secrecy, they would have no friendship."

Are you by any chance maddensilence on tumblr? There is a HashiMada post there using this word, too. If you are, so glad you expanded on this. If you're not, still very glad you wrote it. I love it. I like HM/MH in all forms so seeing it as one-sided from this angle is interesting (and rare). They are both still so very in-character even though normally, one would see this in reverse. Hard to explain, but I like how you handled it. I hope you write more of these guys in the future!
