i dont think bulma would make up exuses for vegeta. and if she did i think she would keep it to herself and still except vegeta. some scenes couldbe confused as bulma pitting him.

what a strong and bittersweet romantic love story you wrote of redemption and realization.

I literally read the Zarbon/Vegeta scenes from this chapter every day but I haven't known what to say in a review up until now, and even now I'm just... in awe. Your writing flows seamlessly and the dialogue brings out so much emotion in me. I adored this story and it is definitely going on my favorites list!

I guess that's why humans had to believe to a higher power, to a God; who is a benevolent God. A God that has the power to forgive. Alluding to why Bulma says that what's important is the here and now.
But yeah, I can see Vegeta's point that those are kins of a cop out words to ease a guilty conscience.

Great story, and sad too, you are very good creating emotions, I panicked with the attempted rape of Zabon to vegeta, I just wanted to get into the story and get out their dirty hands of him. Horrible past genocidal of our young prince, at least he still had a heart to feel remorse for those girls, I'm starting to believe that vegeta is one of the best characters of literature in general. I congratulate you're a great writer ... and about noni, it tastes horrible, but hey, it also has great medicinal properties, patients with cancer in my country, they daily eating because enhancing the immune system. Excuse my grammar mistakes, English is not my mother tongue.

What a great story, it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, pheeew! I remember reading Broken down universe a long time ago and loved that one too, I'm really glad I decided to read this one too. :)

I did enjoy this overall story and this chapter. I always thought that Bulma was his rock. Even if he won't admit it. She openly cares deeply for him in the show/ movies. And likely picks him up whenever he does doubt himself. Not to mention all the other awesome things she does.

I do think Vegeta is a classic tsundere. Acting one way in public and another in private. Whether this is a learned personality or a royal one is debatable. I also think his time with Freeza largely shaped his personality. I still say we petition Toriyama and Toei Animation for a History of Vegeta special.

I m getting off topic. This whole story is quote realistic and believable. With my only concern being the celibacy policy really. I do think Vegeta is prone to fits of depression. Some of his neurotic moments come out during the show. Mostly when he has no chance of winning. Still this does not detract from his character if anything it makes him the most human. He has to go through a rollercoaster of emotions unlike Goku. He has to doubt himself and question his purpose in life. Some may call him a weak character for this (incredibly I 've heard and saying as much) but I disagree. It takes a real man to face his doubts and demons and push forward. He might stumble, he might fall, but he will keep moving forward. With a little help from a fierce cerulian haired queen by his side.

This was another fairly realistic chapter. Though I might have talked about Vegetas reward more thoroughly. Freeza trusted him again sure. But I think I would have had him mention his next mission or return to active status, which he wanted.

Also my only criticism of the little sisters death is that rather than a singular transition for him it should have been a stepping stone. What I mean is he should not have simply transitioned to monster. He could maybe reminisce about how it was a major turning point on his road to becoming one. I wouldn't necessarily lengthen the story with more incidents just mention that there were more and he slowly transitioned into what Freeza wanted. Because this singular event is not enough to change his behavior. Like I mentioned before he was likely rewarded for "proper" behavior and punished for bad behavior. So much like raising a real child it would take more than one incident to modify his behavior.

Still a very good chapter. I would only make minor changes if it was me. Again totally up to you. It's your story. Just my opinion.

This chapter is quite good for several reasons. For one it delves into Vegetas sexuality. Not his preferences mind you. What I mean are the values and feelings he has regarding to sex. Many of these are learned and cultural in nature. Saiyan sexuality was likely different, but at this point he can probably barely remember it. Around age 5 is the earliest of memories most people can access. And since he was taken to Freeza around then it's unlikely he remembers his culture outside of what Raditz and Nappa tell him.

I am unsure of about Freezas stance on sex. Even if he is asexual, he has a multiracial army. And most species have sex drives. And more than that while he can demand obedience he cannot control biology.

Vegeta is likely unable to control who he is attracted to since the part of his brain that controls that part is the primitive limbic system. Without getting too science the limbic system is one of the oldest parts of the brain present and was there before the pre frontal cortex ever evolved. So that means urges that have to do with survival of the species can over power logic, mainly hunger, sleep, and sex, which are all powerful evolutionary drives. It's the reason why we can't control who we are attracted to.

In any case an Advanced society like Freezas likely knows this. I don't think celibacy is a likely policy of his. I think rather than celibacy he would encourage his men to rape women. Not just for the dastardly act itself. But I want you to think about it like this. If his soldiers rape women then Freeza has turned sex into a weapon. And being conditioned to rape rather than form relationships will leave his soldiers with no families and loyalty only to him. So in a sense another powerful measure of control. That's probably one thing I d change about it since a policy of celibacy doesn't sound realistic. But just a suggestion what you did is still quite good.

I do find it interesting that he practically raped the girl he was with. It was a good description of his sex drive overpowering his reason. I loved that about the story. Because it's realistic if he is 17/8 like I thinl he is his hormones are st their peak. And he is having trouble understanding why he does anything at this point. I remember that age myself. Not only was I confused over my own identity, I found myself doing ridiculous things to attract girls.

Being that he s only around 17 or so here he is still being molded into what Freeza wants. I say this because I 've read different accounts of his age when Freeza took him. The most common is around 5.

It is interesting to read about him while he is still rebellious. Or well he is always rebellious just as overtly rebellious later on. I imagine him being trained to Freeza s liking contained many moments like these. Moments where his pride and honor clashed with his situation and actions. In order to effectively train someone you have to condition them to respond how you want them to. I imagine Freeza was a combination of reward and punishment system. Just as you describe here.

This is an interesting Canon you 've created. The PTO/ Freeza force is a paramilitary group with rank like elements like you 've mentioned. And so far you 've painted a fairly plausible back story.

I do like your memory trigger. Memories are funny things. If you 've ever studied how they work in the mind as I have in my degree. Most people consider them Crystal clear recordings of true events but they are not, especially old ones. We encode memories in our brains with various ways to recall them, sound, smell, images. However the memories themselves are malleable. If you think something bad happened a certain way then those memories will appear regardless of what really occurred.

It is unclear in the Canon universe as to what memories truly haunt his time with Freeza. He was molded into being what Freeza wanted. What that consists of is up to speculation outside of death, destruction, and ruthlessness. Would he halved and killed women? The answer is maybe. Was he a virgin as so believe in his 30s by the time of the three years? Unlikely. Still being encouraged to do things like that would stick with him. And while he may not remember names or faces he would certainly remember the feelings he felt at the time. Which were likely transformed over the years from shame and disgust to sadistic joy and pleasure.

This was so good.
Wish there was a way for Vegeta to know for sure what happened to Acai, but I guess that would be a bit too cute for this kind of story. Still, I wonder.

Love it! But I still think he's going to hell.

Ever since I read a story by niteryde, I've been looking for more stories that focus on revealing Vegeta's past and this was perfect! I love how you showed what the life of a soldier was like, and I loved loved you described that final moment that pushed him over the edge that made him into the man he was when we first met him in DBZ. Cold and heartless.
As for Bulma, well yeah I think she is like Goku in a way. She is naive and too accepting, always seeing the good no matter how deep its buried in their soul. I think they're reluctant to believe that someone can be so rotten to the core.
Still this was a great read, I'm excited to read your other stories now ! :D
