Wow i love this. I actually thought this happens in the show (haven't caught up with ncis in a while so who knows)
Will point out that the first paragraphs were rather big (I am reading from my nexus though so it might not be as bad as I'm making out) but big paragraphs tend to out of readers as too much writer in one big chunk can be overwhelming. Alson the first paragraphs it might be good to start a new line (or new paragraph depending if paragraph is related to Tims words if that makes any sense) so it stands out more.
You improved a bit as the story continues though so it only really the paragraphs before the first flashback you need to focus on. Other than that keep up the good work :)

Very good story. Liked the way you wrote both Tim and Gibbs. Don't know who Adam is, guessing you made him up. Going to look at your other stories now.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to review this awesome story, but I keep getting interrupted. The upside is I have read it several times, and it is just is good the tenth time as the first! McGee waking up in the dark in a perilous situation with a unconscious Gibbs was a brilliant way to give us Tim's perspective, and retrospective, of both their current situation and the recent events concerning Adam Healey. (I did laugh at Tim's thought that Gibbs would slap him if he woke while Tim was checking him for injuries!). Even as Tim continually proves himself to be a very skilled and capable field agent, he still handles personal situations as he always has...by himself. Hearing the Adam story unfold and deteriorate as Tim's situation clearly was showing signs of distress was chilling. By the time Gibbs woke up, it was clear Tim was in dire straits. The callback to the scene where Gibbs finds Tim after the bombing was fantastic! For Gibbs to hear that Tim was ready to leave NCIS over the Adam situation spiraling out of control, just as he was realizing that McGee was seriously injured as well, was a figurative head slap to Gibbs. Their talk in the hospital was long overdue, but really good!

I love reading your stories so much, Fingersnaps. They are always well-written and beautifully constructed, and always enjoyable! Thank you for sharing!

Gibbs had better IMO not head slap to end all head slaps (or I would be pissed-off as all heck at him) Tim once he is awake and realises Tim checked him over so thoroughly for injuries and bound his ankle injury.
Yay! for the bad guys not even knowing about what is probably Tim's backup knife.
This Adam person sounds like a total and utter arsehole.
As does that assistant director Corwin. Honestly, how DOES Leon Vance cope with underlings like that?
That Corwin needs to get his vandalising arse fired and not be hired by any other agency in the Fed food chain.
Yay! for that IMO odious Adam person having gotten a suspension. I still would not trust him as far as I could throw him if I were Tim.

I know Gibbs has his rule about not listening to gossip, but the rest of NCIS doesn't, and I'm always interested to see what happens when the two come into conflict. I like the way you handled it, where no one is completely guilty or innocent. The point that Tim should have spoken up sooner is a good one, if sometimes difficult to accept! I also love that Adam made amends with Tim, and was able to grow from the experience, too.

And, of course, Tim's conversations with Gibbs - loved them! You write the two of them beautifully, and I really appreciated that while Gibbs didn't understand where Tim was coming from, he was willing to learn.
