After Clu's siege of Argon, the revolution managed to limp forwards… And then Tron disappeared. Beck and Paige find themselves in the Grid's capital after an anonymous tip summons them to the large gaming grid. There, they are confronted by the revolution's worst fear.

With Clu's arrival in Argon, being the Renegade finally starts to take a toll on Beck. So Tron suggests he take an evening to himself. But when the unthinkable happens, both Tron and Beck must realize that they need help. Enemies will become friends and hidden allies will be revealed. And beneath it all lurks a conspiracy keeping a secret that will change everything...forever.

After a rough training session, Tron opens up to Beck about some of his mysterious past. The inspiration for this story mostly came from ruminating too much about the specifics of the digital universe vs. ours and how it might feel for a program to leave their universe vs. how simple it is for programmers to go into the digital world.

The Game has changed. The Revolution has begun. With Tron healed and once more in the fight for the Grid, the war has begun. But Clu will not give up so easily, and this is a war that will be fought in the streets. But it is a war that Beck and Tron intend to win, so long as they can do one thing first: survive.
