Told from the perspective of one of the pilgrims on the ship, the man experiences the many hardships of their journey and finds himself surrounded by sickness and death. He even witnesses Kurtz's death, and finds himself disturbed by his last words.

He has been called in to investigate a ruthless gang and find out what happened to the young social worker who went missing six months prior. With his past hanging over him, how will he fare?
