I believe in constructive criticism. I won't go overboard with critiquing a story; one thing I take pride in is that I can usually find something to like about a story. But I will tell you what I believe can be improved upon, and I will do it as nicely as possible. I like helping writers make their stories better. I don't like making them cry big tears into their bowls of low-fat frozen yogurt. If you would like me to beta your story, just let me know. I'm open to just about anything.

I have been a copy editor for three papers, and managing editor for a fourth. Newswriting may not be the same as fiction writing, but it is storytelling in a different sense. It helps teach how to tell the story objectively, without taking sides or adding useless information. Being a copy editor has helped sharpen my fact- and grammar-checking skills, so I can recognize spelling and grammar errors easily. I have also written over thirty stories, so I know how to tell one. If it's Mary Sue you fear, I can smell her from a mile away and suggest ways to make her less Suetiful. I may not enjoy writing for all genres, but I'm open to reading most of them.

None. I'm perfect. KIDDING! I'm no expert at writing action sequences, and poetry isn't my strong suit. But I'll beta them for grammar and spelling, and make sure the prose flows okay. Just don't ask me to beta your poetry. My poetry sucks.

I'll read just about anything with a solid plot, good characters and decent writing.

I do not read slash. Period. I don't care how lyrical the prose or how original the plot-I will not read it. I don't support Phillip Pullman or His Dark Materials, so don't ask me to read anything based on that. I cannot see how anyone could write a compelling fanfic based on SpongeBob SquarePants or Sesame Street, and I have made a solemn vow to stay as far away from the Care Bears section as possible. Anything mocking my Christian faith and/or principles will not be read. Also, I'm not a huge fan of depressing stories. While I respect those who write them and those who read them, I'd rather not beta something that will make me cry big tears into my gallon of rocky road ice cream while I wonder if life is worth living.
