Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have officially been with the Kingdom Hearts fandom for what I think is going on a year, and I am an active fanfiction writer and a committed editor. My fanfiction virtues are: Originality, Creativity, and Canon, I will be happy to read anything, so long as I feel that the writer has put effort into creating a unique and interesting plot, and has kept the characters true to their personalities. I think that if a person has not played through the games, they should at least watch a few cutscenes relating to the characters in question (that way, there's a little less of the stereotyped figures we've all come to grow sick of. I am not thinking of fruitcake!Marluxia, sex-crazed!Axel, blushinguke!Vexen, and don't get me started on Xemnas, Saix, and Xaldin. Plus those other guys too I guess)
I am willing to read fics of any pairing, regardless of the orientation of the characters, but my absolute favorite pairing is MarluxiaVexen (411). I will take crack and canon pairings, AU or in-game, (and I'll take lesser known sorts of things like mpreg, non-con, etc.) but be mindful that I will actually edit anything that's given to me. I believe that improvent in writing has to come from hard work and constructive criticism. I'm a bit of a tough grader, more so with anything involving my OTP (411). I look for standard spelling/grammar, but I'm also going to be checking for those fanfiction virtues I've mentioned above. On a side note, if I feel that the author hasn't taken the time to present a quality work, I will not take the time to imporve it.
With all that said, I'm glad to be a beta and I hope to see some really good KH fanfiction soon! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am, first and foremost, a plot-whore. I love rich, complex plots, and I'm willing to assist the author develop a plot, but I will do so only with the author's own consent and feedback. I don't want to turn a story in a direction they don't want to go, after all! I will also check to see if the characters are acting according to the base codes of their personality (within reason, of course. All fanfiction writers are entitled to character interpretation, and I give the authors a lot of leeway with that, but the stereotypes are really bugging me). So, one could say that my strengths lie with character and plot development. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Even though English is my first (and, as of now, only) language, I am not entierly fluent in the ways of grammar ^__^;. I'm doing research outside of school to fix this, but I'm hoping to trust in the might of spellcheck (even though, for some reason, there are a few things that still get through...oh well). I'm not picky about spelling/grammar unless I see something horribly wrong. Also, my knowledge of the Final Fantasy games is somewhat...lacking. I know what I know from in-game KH, context clues from fanfiction, and Advent Children. People coming to me with big FF references might need to explain some things. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others

As I've said long enough, I'm a horrible 411 freak, and I prefer the Organization over most of the other characters, but I still love the protagonists very much. I also don't mind adding the Disney characters to the mix, keeping to the rules of canon. Femslash would be nice just because it's so scarce, but again, any pairing works for me. |

I'm also not willing to read anything where the author expects compliments without criticism. I think that's rather rude. |
