My style is simple: You email me your work as an rtf, Word 1997-2003, or Word 2007 document or use the DocX system (at the moment I don't care which, although I can give you clearer markings with the email method). I go through it either using the markup feature in MS word if you choose email or adding in color-coded comments in if you choose DocX. I email it back as a PDF with my comments and corrections fairly clearly marked or I send it back via DocX-if you sent me a Microsoft 2007 file, I'll send it back in that format. If you have questions about my marking, you ask them.

(Additional note: if for some reason you need a bilingual beta-for purposes of talking over what you've written only, not for writing purposes-I can do German and Spanish. Again, I am not confident enough in my ability in these languages to beta stories written in them, but if necessary for communication about your writing, I can work with you).

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE A BETA REQUEST IF I DON'T LIKE YOUR PROJECT OR I DON'T THINK I CAN DO IT JUSTICE.

I catch more grammatical errors than many high school English teachers. I specialize character development and working with limited canonical resources; I'll even help research historical context or parallels. I'm also good at finding (and fixing) parts that could be misinterpreted or misunderstood by the reader.

I don't do well working with situations I haven't experienced; the manly-male perspective is usually beyond me, for example. Basically, if I don't know what it is, I can't help you. I'm also have trouble working with pairings and/or scenarios that I hate because of bias. Nothing against your story, everything against my inability to let go of personal opinions.

I love the psychological stories that look into motivations and ones that focus on character development. A good author realizes that, while a character has to be consistent, a character gradually changes according to his or her experiences (free tip for you guys).

I LOVE crack pairings that can be justified. If you can make me believe that Yasuchika and Haruhi were made for each other, I will gladly beta.

I won't betaread anything I wouldn't write; there's the simple version. Continue for specifics.

I won't betaread yaoi unless it's mild; think "Belt Loops" by H. Moth kind (read it, by the way); I will do yuri, het, or gen. A great deal of AU fanfiction and I simply don't jive; you can certainly ask about your particular story, and I'll consider it, but be aware that there's a high chance my reply will be "no". I generally only do multi-chap commitments as special favors for people I really should give my firstborn to, but seeing as if I probably won't have one to give away, I have to give something else. Either that or you've got a REALLY good idea that I REALLY like. I WILL do M-rated stuff if it's M-rated for language and/or violence, just no citrus.

Oh, and special case for Naruto: if it's pre-Shippuden or skips Shippuden, okay. If it involves ANYTHING Shippuden, no go. Keeping up with that series is a full-time job, and one I don't think I can handle at this time.
