Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
All right, here I go... As a beta reader? I'm strict about literacy- I won't let a mistake go (unless it's 'their' and 'thier'... I can't spell that either... :) ). I'm good with deadlines, typically. If I say I'll have something to you, I will. I won't spare your feelings, either, so if you want honesty, then that's my name. I'll tell you like it is: it sucks, it's good, it could use improvment, and best still, I'll tell you WHY I think the things I do and won't just leave you hanging wondering 'well, why didn't you like it? This script is my best work.' I'll tell you like it is without crappy sugar-coated junk (though I'll compliment you on things I liked... Overly... Egos are important...)
Style... Hmm... I suppose I don't really have a 'style'. I read it over and I'll add in a few things if you want me to... I'll edit any mistakes in grammer... I guess you could say I'll dot your i's and cross your t's for you... Just don't leave as many mistakes as possible to see if I fix them. It'll make me frustrated. I expect at least moderate literacy. If you can't find the period mark on your keyboard, don't even finish reading this. I will not deal with idiocy or any kind of rude behavoir toward me. I am, I guess, kind of nice... Don't think I'm all business all the time- I can joke and have a good time with it. Over all, I guess you can mold me to what you want me to be. :) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very good with literacy. I will not miss mistakes (too often). I've also got a good sense of humor and usually know what I'm talking about when I correct you. I also have a good impression of 'good' verses 'bad' writing and will be openly honest with my critique (which I am sure to give each and every person I beta for). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm horrible with long stories. I'm not about quanity, but quality for writing. Long paragraphs, stories, or plots bore me and I usually am far more likely to procrastinate if given such lengthes, especially if they're boring. However, if they're really impressive or well written, I'm far more likely to read them. ^_^ I don't avoid long stories- I love them and am impressed. I just... get a little overloaded looking at the screen. XD I'm also bad at catching the word 'tomorrow' misspelled(I actually spell it tomarrow) and 'their' vs. 'thier'. I still personally don't know which is correct. :) I'm also not the best with helping drama or angst... I'm a humor/horror writer, so I suppose I'm just better with those... (great combo of genre's by the way, I know... :)) |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Heterosexual relationships... O.o I must say, I really appreciate good, cannon, hetro pairings. I also like horror, humor, romance, and friendship/family fictions. I prefer literacy with well-written description (not script format) and character depth. I will not mind the resonable OC character (so long as they are not the main focus... it's annoying...) Oddly enough, though, I do enjoy a good tragedy- character deaths are fun to read, as well as attempted suicide... O.O Not that I approve, of course, but it jerks the heart strings. :) I enjoy well written crack-fics. I'm actually in the process of writing one. They're fun. I enjoy them. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
YAOI OR YURI! . Good, off my chest. Not doing it. Don't ask. I also will not touch citrus. No lemons, no limes, no oranges, bananas, you name it, I don't want it. (And I know a banana is not citrus.) Slave/Master pairings are a no... No rape (though I consider that under lemon) and nothing exceptionally graphic like abuse (...except gore... that's fun...). No cannonxOC pairings. As fun as they are to imagine, I don't read them online. I will not read anything that I consider Quizilla level. AKA kindergarterners could write better at times. Don't bother.
No Mpreg or plain old preg. I don't wanna ready that. I've seen it in real life- I get it; she's mean, he's sick of rubbing her feet. We know. No crossovers with the following series': any except good Fatal Frame, Tsubasa Reservior Chronicles, Kingdom Hearts. Period. Unless marked crack-fic, I won't tolerate someone being excessively out of character. Nothing futuristic. Don't skip time. You don't know what will happen. And I won't read next generation junk. I think that covers it. |
