I've never done online beta-reading before, but I have been writing since I was old enough to put words on paper and have taken several writing courses/workshops at my college. I firmly believe that a community or interactive approach to creative writing is one under which most writers thrive; I've certainly grown immensely just by taking my writing in to be critiqued by other writers, and my own critiques of others has pointed me in the direction of my own flaws and my own writing methods. I take writing very seriously--as such, I don't want to read anything that isn't taken seriously by its author. I'm not interested in doing major grammatical overhauls--that's the responsibility of the author. I shouldn't feel like I'm grading an elementary school essay. I am very interested in helping other writers out, but only writers who are similarly driven and have experience writing. Unless you're a prodigy or very confident about your writing skills, no newbies please.

I'm great with grammar, but really don't enjoy dealing with a lot of grammatical errors. It's the mark of a poor or lazy writer. I've been told I'm very relevant in my critiques of sentence structure, word flow, story pacing, and thematic points (i.e. finding what in the story belongs there and seems motivated, and eliminating the fluff). As for my own writing, I'm stronger with images, descriptions, and conveying emotion through those. I try and vary the structure of sentences and the flow of the words--I like bringing a bit of poetry-esque rhythm into my prose (because I am, primarily, a poet).

I think I'm a weak dialogue writer--but I'm still good at recognizing how to improve it in others. I've just never felt confident with dialogue--mainly because I think I often write it unnaturally, and don't have great skill with giving different characters unique voices in their specific dialogue. I tend to go off on tangents quite a bit, and take a long time to bring all my plot points together. But if you're really curious about my strengths/weaknesses, I suggest looking over my story "Ascension." It's my most developed, mature, and recent piece on the site.

Series I'm interested in betareading (because I'm most familiar with them): Sailor Moon, Paradise Kiss, Utena, Final Fantasy, X-Men. Others I would be quite happy to read, as well, though I'm a bit less familiar with the complete series: Peach Girl, Mars, Marmalade Boy, Magic Knight Rayearth, Fushigi Yugi, Ceres, Harry Potter, Kare Kano. I tend to read romances and dramas, though I absolutely love a nice apocalyptic epic. Adventure works, too.

I'm fairly open; just not interested in reading stories about series I'm not familiar with.
