Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am not the most strict but I'm quite straightforward. I appreciate having open and honest conversations with authors and I think communication is key. I prefer to work through google docs (it's typically easier to give and receive feedback), but if that's absolutely impossible then we can work something else out. I am not triggered by subjects such as rape, suicide, self-harm, etc. so need to worry about that. I go by they/them pronouns and you can call me Jude or by my username :D |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel at technical errors: punctuation, grammar and spelling as well as keeping sentences fluid and understandable. I also only beta for fandoms that I'm at least passably knowledgeable in so I have no problems pointing out issues in characterization. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not personally a particularly good story writer (I primarily write poetry) and as such may struggle with helping to keep the plot within the fic in focus and give ideas. That said if I see any glaring inconsistencies or any part strikes me as boring or unnatural I won't hesitate to point it out and brainstorm how best to fix it. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I am ONLY betaing gay fanfiction at the moment. I am perfectly comfortable with extreme violence and sexual content so no worries there. I much prefer romance over any other genre, but subgenres are more than welcome. I love action and fantasy as much as the next person, I'd just like it if romance was also on the table.
