Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello! I have loved reading and writing for years, but I only just started to work on larger novel-sized works. My friends give me feedback and suggestions, but sometimes I need someone who will help me make sure everything is in order. I want to help other writers with their stories and writing in general, because not only will it help me improve as a writer, but I get the chance to help someone else. br /br /br / br /br / br / I will help with proofreading for grammar and spelling mistakes as well as making sure the story makes sense. One of the things I will help with is, for example, checking that it has a continuous plot line with no holes in between. If you ask me to, I may also give you ideas, in case of an author's block. If you would like me to beta your story, just send me a message containing the following: Fandom, Story Title, what the story is about, what would you like me to help you with. If I don't know your story's fandom, I will try to investigate about it or let you know if I am unable to beta it. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have great grammar and spelling. I can speak three languages (Spanish, English, and French), though my strongest are Spanish, being my mother tongue, and English, out of sheer stubbornness. I have basic knowledge on several painters and sculptors. I am fairly good at poetry and dramatic writing, as I have a very large vocabulary and excel at symbolism. I am good at putting myself in a certain practical situation, therefore making reactions more realistic. I know quite a few weird facts. I have traveled a lot and know many different cultures. Most importantly, I am honest, so if you make a mistake, I will not sugarcoat it. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not very good with romance, a bit of fluff is okay, but if it's too intense I tend to get off track. I am a procrastinator with a busy life, so it may take a few days before I send back your work. I am not very good with comedy and light fanfiction, happy writing is not my forte. Sometimes I can be too blunt, (please don't take it personally!). A small mistake may pass right over my head, though I try to find every mistake. I am not a native speaker for English and French, so I might make mistakes that a native would not. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like adventure, fantasy and mystery. Dark but realistic fanfiction is my favorite. I do like a bit of romance, but not as the main element. Most of the time I prefer AU or Time Travel fanfiction, though I'm willing to read almost anything. I really like Harry Potter, LOTR, The Name of the Wind, MCU, Sherlock, Supernatural, and Doctor Who, though I can beta other fandoms as long as I am at least familiar with them. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't really like fanfiction where romance is the main element, but if you ask I may still beta it. I would rather not beta any smut or slash, but I'm not completely against doing so. That's about it, if there's something else, I'll let you know. |
