I pay very close attention to things like grammar, punctuation, etc. I'm quite sensitive to things like word choice and varying sentence structures, so I'm good at catching things like overusing a particular word or phrase, as well as too much parallel structure. I can tend to be a bit picky when it comes to these things, but don't let that scare you off- a lot of my friends (online and in real life) send me stories, essays, and the like for me to edit; they usually thank me profusely for catching errors they had never noticed. Plot-related things like holes, character inconsistencies, etc. are a bit harder for me to catch, but on my second or third time through (yes, I read through the story/chapter multiple times) I usually catch such things.

Grammar. This was the one thing in school that I was always excelling at. I tutored in it as well. I reread everything I write multiple times to make sure there isn't a single misplaced comma. While this might not seem important to some people, things like comma placement, knowing when to use a semicolon or a colon, and proper period placement help the overall flow of your story, and therefore helps to further the reader's experience.

I think my one big weakness is that of character inconsistencies. Even in my own writing, I tend not to catch these things; however, this is why I read things through many times. By my second or third read-through, I've caught most of the glaring character errors. I will admit, though, that some of the smaller discrepancies will escape me.

Honestly, I will beta just about any story you throw at me. I enjoy anything with interesting characters and plots, and will get very invested into the story if I'm enjoying it.

Drama and angst are two genres that I'm not all too big on, I'll be honest. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that sometimes I get a little to attached to the characters and their problems that I forget that I'm actually betaing.
