I still may yet put that limit back up to '30 years or older with a couple of kids and some life experience' - bearing in mind I'm under the age of 30 myself. If you can't at least imagine yourself in that position, or have had some experience of similar situations...just don't write it. If you can't take the time to do the research - even talking to people who have been in similar sexual situations to the ones you want to write - why should I bother reading it?br /

I'll read M/R ratings etc...I get tired of them more often than not - why make it so explicit when it's not needed to advance the plot and/or doesn't really fit the fandom? This is not to say that sex, for example, can not be used to advance a plot - so far I know of one original fiction writer who can do that consistently. Sometimes you'll find pieces that have been rated higher to be on the safe side - often shows the author cares a bit more about what they're doing. Those I /

Crack!fic - especially the ones that don't come with the warning - ie they didn't realize how damn cracky it actually /

Really Long Fiction - if I wanted to read something so very, very long and complex, I would read actual hardcopy novels - they've at least already been edited. If you want help with a long one, it'd better be /

Harry Potter fanfiction - I read the books, and I saw the movies cause they're a shiny, shiny lark, but I will not read the fanfiction. I really don't like the series' protagonist - he's a whiny git with awesome /

I won't beta-read for anyone that doesn't BLOODY SPELLCHECK! Or uses american spelling/pronunciation for fanfiction set in the UK/Australia etc. Actually, I find US spelling of certain words irritating(for myself) and confusing(for anyone that's trying to learn English, it's hard enough as is) - but that's a personal quirk rather than a 'I refuse to read it' /
