Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have been beta reading on and off for several years. I have a morphing writing style and when I beta, I simply check for grammatical, spelling, syntax, and errors in fluidity. I also will notify you if something seems unclear, and I tend to get involved in the material I beta for, so I most likely will read/review/keep up with your work. If you wish for me to beta anything for you, please send me a PM letting me know whether it is short-term or long-term, and how I will be receiving your story.I also have selected 'ALL' for several categories (anime, books, cartoons, movies, plays/musicals, tv shows) rather than select specific titles because the list would be infinite; I am familiar with a large and diverse amount in each of these categories, even some of the more obscure choices, so the chances are, I can beta for whatever selection you have. Over time, I will add more specific titles, but feel free to PM me and ask if I will beta for a particular title or series! Acceptable transferring methods include: copy-and-paste via email, .docx via email, .docx via DocX, Google Documents. When you send me anything, I will alert you and let you know that I have received your story. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excel at a lot of things. I'm good with various literary elements: metaphor/simile usage, imagery, descriptive words, and writing fluently. If you need to expand on a sentence, I can help with that, or if you need to shorten a paragraph, I can help with that too. I also am proficient with grammar, spelling, tense usage, and point of view writing. I am familiar with the categories I wish to beta in, including the characters and settings, so if there are any plot issues or characterization problems, I can discuss and help with those. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to take at least two days to fully beta anything over a thousand words because I read it multiple times to make sure I haven't missed anything. Also I prefer to rewrite things that don't fit as opposed to correct them, but I try not to do it too often. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I will beta mostly anything. I tend to identify a lot with emotional pieces, whether it be happy fluff or angst. I also enjoy betaing poetry pieces, explorative pieces, and anything that isn't centered around the romance of characters. That being said, I do enjoy a good romance. I will beta mature/explicit content, but on a case-by-case basis; I have listed what exactly that entails. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
What I will not beta for depends on the pairing and what exactly determines the rating. I have no problem with consensual sexual situations, but when there is forced sexual situations, violence, torture, or anything that would be an emotional trigger, I require a warning. I may turn down material that contains certain emotional triggers. All I ask if that if there is something of controversial nature in your story, that you warn me before you send it. |
