Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a reader and writer of just about everything. Beta-reading isn't much different. I've always helped my friends with their writing, for both school and pleasure, because I love reading what they have written and helping them transform it into exactly what they had hoped for. Now for the negatives: I'm a perfectionist, upbeat, and will give you enough "constructive criticism" to make your ears bleed. But it's because I care about you and your writing, and I want to help your work be the best that it can be. Don't worry. Just because I am heavy on the editing side, it doesn't mean I will be any less friendly. I don't bite :)br /

- panromantic and demi/asexual (this is best of both worlds in my case; I have a lot of insight into different kinds of queer/hetero relationships, and I still can write and read mature content in spite of being ace, though I'm gonna prefer at least some romantic undertones for smut)br /

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am good at correcting grammar and improving the flow of a person's writing (aka sentence structure). I have a strong vocabulary, so I can usually help find the right or missing words. And as a bonus, I'm somehow simultaneously encouraging and critical - so if you can handle a lot (seriously, it can be intimidating sometimes) of suggestive/corrective edits, we're gonna be compatible.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Bad with semi-colons and very nit-picky. My friends come to me for help with editing papers for classes, because I comb through for every possible improvement. I'm pretty good at it, and I love covering every single option with them, and can accept when they disagree - ultimately it's the author's work. But if that kind of constructive criticism will hurt your feelings, you should find someone else. Also, when I make edits, I won't just rewrite the problem sentences for you. A large part of this process is learning, and I will tell you (or advise you on) how to fix most of the problems. Also because this is your story. The words should be yours, not mine.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Love stories focused on character development/personal growth. Also, here for ongoing stories (though one-shots are cool too). Definitely a sucker for romance, and I love when it's interwoven with comedy. I really appreciate work that feels canon; I can work with completely AU stuff, but I'll have a harder time with works that don't fit the characters or the world. Finally, way more invested in dialogue than setting. I can edit writing when it comes to setting, but can't contribute as much to it as I can to character growth and dialogue. Some of the content I'm familiar with is listed below:

Books~ Vampire Academy/Bloodlines, Hunger Games, Divergent, Stephanie Plum Series, Outlander, Pride & Prejudice, The Selection, Delirium. I'm sure there are many others, and I'm open to reading new novels/series if they are /

br /

Cartoons~ Pucca, Avatar, Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Gravity Falls, Total Drama, Kim Possible, Daria, The Adventures of Saiki K., Bojack Horseman, Rick & Mortybr /

br /

TV~ Revenge, Dexter, Supernatural, Sherlock, The End of the F***ing World, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, You, The Haunting of Hill House, Grey's Anatomy, Outlander, Parks & Rec, The Office, The Good Place, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, New Girl, Atypical. I watch a lot of TV, so if it's not on this list you can always ask.

Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Not here for misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, racist, or ableist content. I understand a *little* lee-way when it comes to truthful/canon depictions of character, but I will draw a firm line with anything that I feel goes too far or isn't necessary to the plot.
