I love to read and write, and I am using FanFiction in both of those respects to improve my abilities. I am a very good technical writer (formal essays and things) but find myself lacking in the creative department, which is why I turn to FanFiction.

Being a good writer in the technical department, I find myself being a perfectionist and hunting down mistakes like a bloodhound. I've always written above the standard, and with my strong personality, so I often find I have little empathy for those who don't understand things, so I have no concept of when I may be hurting someone's feelings. To anyone who wishes to acquire my services, I would love to beta for you! But please tell me before hand what level you think your writing is at and what kind of feedback you want to receive, or I may end up going off on tangent after tangent with no relation to what you want to have done for beta work.

Grammar, diction, and syntax.

Grammar: I can pick up very slight grammar mistakes and offer corrections on everything, from switching tenses to subject-verb agreement to incorrect usages of words like "there" and "their" and "your" and "you're".

Diction: I have a very large vocabulary and can offer good synonyms. I can also offer suggestions for other types of literary devices, like alliteration, and can pick up on when a word is used that has the incorrect connotation for the moment.

Syntax: I love convoluted sentences. I can pick up on little things about sentence structure that will improve the whole flow of the piece, alternating between long and short sentences, and point out when a thought got broken up due to too many short sentences or two incomplete thoughts were connected in a run-on sentence that should be broken apart.

I am a perfectionist myself, and thus tend to expect that in others. In other words, I can be a horrible person while proofreading. I tend to nitpick and bring up things that people may not even understand, and that sometimes hurts people's egos. This is not intentional; it's just my nature.

Also, I really suck at spelling. Thank whoever invented spell check, am I right?

I like yaoi. That being said, I'll beta all types of romance as well, including het and yuri. I'm an equal opportunity romancer ;)

I would prefer stories trying to artistic in some way, with at least some semblance of plot and a little bit of length to them (they don't have to be multi, though I will do those, they just have to have more than 500 words). I don't like drabbles very much because I like to be personally invested in things.

I'm good with both in cannon or AU fics.

RAPE. I hate rape. If it's part of the story as a plot device, I will overlook it, however, as long as it's not pornographic in nature. Questionable consent is a grey area; the whole "you say you don't want it but your body says you do" thing really isn't my thing, but I'll work with it as long as it's either a plot device (as mentioned earlier) or mutual consent is clearly stated later in the story.

Other than that, I don't know much about themes of a culture different than mine, but I will beta that stuff; I may not be as good at it.
