I tend to read with a critical eye, especially as it relates to grammar, punctuation, and style. Does the story flow well? Is the dialogue natural? Does the author paint a vivid word-picture. These are the kind of things I look for.

Grammar, punctuation, clarity of style, and overall plausibility.

It will be hard for me to beta read a story that doesn't intrigue me. I do occasionally have trouble with making sure the author hasn't written themselves into a corner or contradicted themselves at another point in the story

Generally I'd prefer to beta stories I have some familiarity with - I'll be most helpful with these HP, LOTR, most general fiction

Nothing really, but if I'm not familiar with the universe or character set, my beta-reading ability will be limited to grammar, punctuation, and style rather than storyline, etc.
