I haven't done much beta reading, but I'm a senior editor in my school newspaper, and I'm part of a special program at my school that proofreads students essays (anything from a homework assignment to major research papers). I am also an active writer, and have participated in numerous contests and scholarships for fiction and nonfiction alike.

As a reader, I am critical and honest, but I understand the importance of an author's vision. I know that people have a writing style that is not conducive to my own, and I respect an author's individuality more than anything. I know that authors can grow, and proof of that is the three stories I have authored. I am well in tune with the flow of syntax, and I pay a vast amount of attention towards correct grammar. However, my most proficient skill is characterization and plot. I can offer help on making the characters real, believable, and identifiable, and I can make them pull at the heartstrings of those who read your story. I'm also adept at providing plot ideas, spotting plot holes, and perfection an already written plot.

Keep in mind that I won't force my opinion on an author. I will provide honest thoughts and suggestions that I believe will benefit you as a writer, and though I expect those ideas to be respected, I accept that you, as the navigator of your story, will disagree with my ideas.

I do well with grammar and syntax, but I excel at plot and characterization.

Sometimes I skip over minor details despite my skill at grammar (i.e. their instead of there), but I proofread twice just to make sure I don't skip those mistakes. I'm not the best beta to go to when it comes to tragedy/angst/horror stories simply because I don't read those genres very much. Sometimes, I'm brutally honest, so a beta that is more tactful than I is recommended if my style doesn't agree with yours.

I prefer Romance and Humor overall. I also love stories that have an angst edge to them (such as Harry lamenting the loss of someone in his life), but I will not take overly mournful fics, because I like when characters find a way to get through their pain. I want the stories I read to have substance and potential to them. I don't want any meaningless plots; however, I will improve upon questionable plots and stories.

Specifically, I prefer the stories I have listed in my preferences, but I would rather not read the standard book couples (ex: Ron and Hermione), though I will take them if you really want me to read them.

I don't take female/female and male/male, because I don't have any experience on that topic, and I wouldn't be the best beta for it anyway. I would rather not read stories I don't have listed in my preferences. I also don't like smut or suicide or anything of a highly mature nature (though if your story has mature themes that aren't central to the story, then I will take those).

Otherwise, any other couple is completely fine.
