Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi, I'm Angel-Hunteress, or Schelly, and I love proofreading.I'm relatively new to beta-reading, but I do proof things for people all the time outside of the internet. As a rule, I try to make my stories have the best grammar and spelling so it is easier for people to read and understand, and I feel that sometimes bad spelling or grammar can detract from the reader's entertainment. I encourage people to write stories (I have started one of my good friends on writing fanfics) and would love to help people in any way I can and to have them get the most reviews. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My best strength besides grammar is in the categories of drama, angst and romance, probably in that order.I go into stories with twists and turns in their plots, but I am most descriptive with angst. I am trying to get out of that category, however, and move on to humor, but as of right now, humor isn't my strongest. Another strenght of mine is multi-chapter stories with large and original plots. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Right now, my weakest point is humor.My own sick sense of humor (like South Park) is probably not what everybody likes, and I am horrible at the one-liners. In real life I'm not the funniest person, and my come-backs are pretty lame, and I do tend to use a lot of sarcasm. I am trying to improve my humor, but as of right now it certainly lacks a lot. Another weakness of mine is one-shots. Though I absolutely love them, I cannot write them as my wandering mind tends to make them bigger and longer. Also, some genre weaknesses of mine are horror, poetry, and those metaphoric stories where everything stands for something else. Though I do love reading stuff like that, it's hard to come up with ideas. Also, I am very much so a procrastinator. Although, not so much as it is I tend to come up with new stuff quickly and then give up on my old stuff. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Let's see...in the case of South Park (where my head is currently at) I prefer StanxKyle aka Style and CartmanxWendy aka Candy. I don't mind other pairings, but and I do love Kenny as a character, but StanxKyle really is the only slash pairing I like.For Doctor Who, I prefer Rose/10 and also human-10/Rose also I do love Donna, so I like reading Donna/10 friendship. NO SLASH, please, unless it's JackxOC or JackxIanto. Otherwise...hm...I don't mind doing one-shots, but I do prefer to do something on a long-term basis that keeps my interest as I feel one-shots are kinda like writer's lingo for 'one-night stands.' lol. Also, I do like M-rated things but not just pointless lemon (although, hey, people say I'm as bad as Kenny) so fire away. I'll also do anything from horrible grammar that seriously needs cleaning-up to great grammar that just needs to be overlooked by another person. Give me your tired, your weak, your poor... |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Um...other than Style, I really don't like much slash, though I'll definitely read it.Yuri's fine, but not really preferred. I really only enjoy romantic stuff, so some pairings please. And...OCs are okay, but in moderation and have some background stories please. I'll definitely tell you if I think they're a Mary-Sue (unless, of course, that's the point) Crossovers (Xovers) are okay, as long as I know the Crossover. If I don't understand it, it won't keep my interest. Other than that, anything goes. |
