Hello, FFNet! I am going to be offering my services as a beta-reader from here on out. I have plenty of time at work to read stories, and I feel this would be a productive use of my spare time. I aspire to be a novel editor someday, and so beta-reading is going to be great practice. In particular, I have already offered my services proofreading the works of my good friend and FFNET author Jazlynn. I actually enjoy proofreading and editing, even if that seems a little strange. Not to mention, I love getting to be one of the first people to read a story! It's fun, and it feels special to help polish a story into a refined product that really displays the author's talent to the community and helps it to shine. :)

Spelling and grammar are my strong suits. I also focus on finding wordy or unclear phrases and helping to reword them so as to convey they same message to the reader in a natural manner. I tend to concern myself with the 'flow' of a story. When I proofread a story I like to provide the author with a document that has all of my corrections, suggestions and changes applied in highlighted colour, presented alongside the original content instead of deleting the original content. This makes for better comparisons, and it also doesn't make me feel like I'm just bulldozing over your story with my own ideas. Ultimately as a beta-reader I provide suggestions but the story is yours.

I can be fairly nitpicky if I think a particular idea comes across as unclear or if a word has been misused. I am also very honest in my opinions... by no means will I insult or tear down your story, but I will be blunt where it is needed. You will likely receive a lot of constructive criticism from me. Which is, of course, something that I encourage other authors and readers to provide to me as well. :)

Nope, I will read pretty much anything and everything. If you're a good author, then you can make the subject matter interesting regardless of the genre or premise.

Again, there is pretty much nothing that I will not read. I do not care about the rating of the content. I understand that fiction is fiction and can distance myself from it if by some chance something comes up that makes me uncomfortable. That being said, if I believe a theme is presented in a way that will offend or make some readers uncomfortable I will point this out and make suggestions to deliver the idea of the story tactfully.
