Hi! My name is Ellen and I've been on fanfiction for a while now! As a new beta-reader, I guess I can say that when I read fanfictions, I like to take my time to explore all the meanings the author is trying to portray, and to put as much work into reading it as the author put into writing it. If I'm reading someone's work, I expect it to be the best they could have possibly done, because that's not only respectful to me, but also to yourself and your blossoming masterpiece. :)

If you glance at my earlier stories (and only glance because they're terrible), I focused mainly on plot. And... that's about it. HAHA. But now, as I grew as a person, a Christian and a writer, I learned to cut deeper through the surface. I LOVE metaphors, similes, allusions, symbols, etc. Words have so many connotations and denotations, so why not have fun with them? I love to explore my characters, and if I'm writing a romance story (which I usually am), I try to explore their relationships in many more ways than just the obvious.

My weaknesses are... everything else. HAHA. Well, it's pretty ironic, but my biggest weakness is plot. I try to read Phillipia Gregory as often as possible to pick up some of her plot skills, but it's hard because I write very differently than her. I have a hard time getting things to move smoothly, many because I can spend half an hour focusing on a leaky faucet. -.-

I prefer stories with a lot of depth (but not necessarily emotion). That's up for you to interpret (and hey, if you pull it off differently than the way I'm expecting, I will forever admire you for your awesomeness. Heck, maybe I'll even build you a shrine!)! ~.^

Sorry, but I don't like male/male or female/female pairings (sorry, it's my upbringing) and tasteless smut. If you're going to write about sex, I prefer it portrayed the way God intended-- a connection of two human souls. And senseless cursing is just annoying, unless the character calls for it. (I admire someone that can write about Cid from FF7 without one curse and still keep him in character.) Other than that, I'm pretty open-minded!
