When I beta-read a story, I look to make sure the story has good punctuation, grammar, and spelling. I also will make sure the story is spaced out evenly and that it flows well. When I use the highlighting feature, I sort of color-code it so one color could mean punctuation or another could mean spelling, and so on. I will also use the comment option if I want to make a suggestion or something.

I guess my strength would be making sure the punctuation, spelling, and grammar are accurate.

Honestly, I'm not sure what my weakness as a beta-reader is. As a writer, my weakness is being a slow updater. I just haven't beta'd enough stories to find a weakness.

I would prefer to beta stories that are general (meaning no non-canon parings) or stories which have m/f (male/female) parings. I usually don't read f/f or m/m stories, so I'd prefer not to beta those types of stories (not that I have anything against them, of course).

I will not beta female/female or male/male paring stories (at least for non-canon parings).
I also really dislike Jonas Brothers stories and any kind of cast fic.
