Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love reading stories that have interesting twists and quick plot turn overs. When I write I like to keep my readers guessing what might happen next in the story so that they don't get bored. I love reading sci-fi novels, and descriptive adventures in fantasy lands. Online I tend to read a lot of adventure/romance stories. I like writing alternative endings to movies and books, and giving myself a challenge by answering the 'What if ...' questions that pop in my mind. My style is a bit different and unusual so to speak. I love reading poetry in stories, and writing it, but I dislike reading some random song that someone just puts into their story. As if that makes it better? I don't know the song, and it doesn't fit or flow. I want to read stories from people that love the characters they are writing about, and know them well enough to actually come up with their own unique dialogue for the characters. (I dislike reading quotes after quotes from the original material. Come up with your own stuff!) I enjoy reading stories that have been well considered and have a lot of character and plot development, the 5 F's (Fictional, Fun, Fast-paced, Fantastical, and Freaky). I'm up for helping any sort of person who would like a bit of advice, as long as they acutely want to listen to it. Anyway, I am a fallible human, and I do make mistakes from time to time, so you should be made aware of the fact (my writing is not perfect). As a writer and reader I'm not going to be really picky and mean, I just like to enhance the quality of the story itself and create something will read well. As a fellow writer, I want the authors of the stories that I might read to describe what they want to accomplish in their story. Why they felt drawn to write about it, and which character they feel closest too in the their story. :D
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My Strengths reside in description. I love describing a place, a location, the smells, the sounds, and the people. I love creating a character or giving them a bigger backstory. I love writing and reading stories told from an intimate and personal point of view. I love using colourful words, and phrases. Descriptive adjectives and action verbs are essential.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses in my own writing tend to be in minor spelling mistakes, and the extra long sentences that come so naturally to me. I don't like proof reading my own stories, but I don't mind pointing out the problems in other stories. :D
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I love reading action, science fiction, fantasy, some romance and stories that are fascinating. I love reading stories written for Cartoons, Anime, and Manga, and I have written stories for Star Wars, One Piece, Inuyasha, FairyTail, Dragon Ball Z and many more. I would like to beta test stories that are: BLEACH, FAIRY TAIL, DRAGON BALL all series except GT, FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST, INUYASHA, ONE PIECE, BERSERK, STAR WARS, AVATAR; THE LAST AIRBENDER, AVATAR; LEGEND OF KORRA, AND most other awesome anime series.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I don't like reading much in the way of horror stories. Because the majority of them don't have the characters staying true to themselves. I don't like reading the slap sex / porno stories. They don't have any character development or any reasonable, human emotion that sounds remotely intelligent when they are doing it. I like people and characters that can think before they act and have a reason to do it. I will read a sexy story, but only if the build up was good. I don't like reading the cop-out copy stories. These are the sort of stories that have very similar setups to the originals, but only seem to develop by copying from other authors' stories, or even worse the lamest parts of other peoples stories. Scenario 1: (Girl falls, lands on guy, smash bodies together, accidentally kiss, girl slaps guy, runs away.) This is something I have read quite a few times in anime fiction and it is LAME! Don't EVER write this in your story people It SUCKS! Once I read this in a story I instantly place the author in the cop-out copy zone of my mind. So don't do it. There are many other ways you can get people to kiss one another. Scenario 2: (Drinking, having fun, drinking, have sex, sleep, forget about night before, shock horror in the morning, and blame the other person) I hate this type of romance story, some might work pretty well, but to the majority of people who write this stuff, STOP, it is really terrible. I don't read Yaoi. The characters need to be different sexes for sex to work properly in my mind. I find age or gender-bending rather interesting though. Where one character isn't the right age or sex as he or she usually is, and this creates very different responses from friends, enemies, or allies.
