Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi I'm TimeLord98, but you can call me Penny. I have been writing for a very long time, and have been in the fanfiction community for four years now. I enjoy helping others improve their writing, and I find that in doing so, my writing improves as well. I can help you with various things, such as grammar/spelling and overall flow, but in order to do so effectively, I may need a few days to make sure I haven't missed anything. You should also probably know that I like to spell things as proper in British English, so don't be confused when I type words like "realise" and "manoeuvre". If you wish for me to be your beta, you can expect a PM detailing what you have done well, and what needs improvement. I hope this can be a fun and educational experience for the both of us. |

I am particularly good at catching grammatical/spelling errors, as well as fixing awkwardly worded passages and things that don't quite flow properly. I can also help you with characterisation and give you plot suggestions if you so wish. |

I'm not the best at coming up with titles, but if you really need input, I can give you my two cents. Additionally, when I tell you what needs improvement, I can be blunt at times, but I promise you I am not trying to be mean or condescending, so try not to take offence if I come across as insensitive. I hope as I grow more experienced as a beta reader and a writer that these weaknesses will soon become strengths. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'd prefer to beta fanfics of shows/movies/books/whatever that I am familiar with so I can properly discern good characterisation, but I am really pretty much open to anything. The things I am most familiar with are Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural, Transformers (G1, TFA, TFP), Harry Potter, Ace Attorney, Space Dandy, Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit, Cabin Pressure, Leverage, Numb3rs, A:TLA, and Star Trek (TOS, TNG, and the reboot) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I absolutely refuse to beta anything that includes incest, bestiality, etc. I would feel extremely uncomfortable if you ask me to beta anything with graphic sex, so that's a no-go. I also refuse to beta anything rated above T. Other than that, send it my way. |
