I started out as an English major in college before decided that I hated newspapers, and didn't care for magazines and there was no way I could make a decent career out of writing. I now dabble in young adult books, and write FanFic on the side when ever my Muse gets sick of the kiddy stuff. I do not obsess over the gramatical aspects/rules of writing as much as I focus on the flow/content and consistency of the wording/story. My favorite english teacher once said if it sounds correct when you read it out loud it's good enough for me!

I write/read mostly Fanfictions aimed at or meant for adults. But I also write for the young adult level in real life(middle school to high school level) so I am comfortable with most levels of maturity. I think most people think my strength is in perfecting M rated scenes. I tend to stay away from slash it's just not for me. I don't do spoof stuff well as I like to keep the characters as true to themselves and as plot-driven as possible. I like to use new words so that the same verb/noun doesnt become repeatative and distracting to the reader. I try to read and re-read to make sure that the little words that sometimes get flipped are what belong there, a spare 'on' extra 'the' flipping two words in a sentence without realizing it because you know what it SHOULD say; I try to catch that.

I will also check that your average grammar rules in punctation and sentence structure is followed. But that's not something I obsess over so I will probably over look some things especially if I'm concentrating on the flow of the story. I'm partial to sentence flow italics and line spacing that lends itself to a emphasizing what's important, that helps the reader to consume the story as it was intended. I want to read the story as the writer intended it to be delievered, and sometimes that means grammar be damned.

Thank God for spell check...call it lazy fingers, call it typing too fast; Call it a a verbal malfunction where your brain gets ahead of your hands and the next thing you know its a WHAAAA? moment!

Whatever you want to call it I've done it, You've done it, We've ALL done it, and sometimes it's just plain embarressing! To err is human right?

Write what you know. If I am familiar with the characters/show/book etc I am happy to give it a go; however if I have no idea what or who you're writing about it's probably not going to make a lot of sense to me. I mean sure I can look at the grammer/spelling/punctuation...but writing is more then that, you've got to write what you Love as well as what you know...so I could hardly tell you if the characters were spot on or delivered brilliantly if I dont know the first thing about them!

Cracks or Spoofs I avoid, I've never found them amusing honestly. I would probably say submissions to be beta read should be no longer then 10 pages per chapter for time constraints on my end and also to improve the quality and time in which I can get your beta-ed material back to you.
