Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm kind of new to this thing so peas be nice. It's likely that I'll re-read something many times over the course of several days. As an example, once I get something, I'll read it and then put it aside for the next day to re-read it again so that I can look at it with a fresh start. And this will process will repeat a few times (probably, may or may not be more), so it'll probably take a while. Also, if there's something related to canon that I'm not completely sure of, I'll either look it up using the Interwebs or try to find it by actually going through the entire series...which is another reason why it may seem like it's taking a long time for my butt to get into gear. I ask lots of questions because I get confuzled easily, so if I don't get something I'll probably ask you...so you may end up with a few (or a lot of) PMs in your inbox. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty good and finding synonyms for words, so if I see one that's being repeated too often, I'll likely suggest to change some of them. Spelling, only if it stands out a lot and also partially because of spellcheck/the dictionary on my computer. Also, word confusion in general is one of my pet peeves, so I may go off on a tangent if you replace their for there or they're EVERY SINGLE TIME (because once or twice is understandable, I've done it before...quite a few times). Don't worry, though, I won't get on your case if that happens. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. Dear god, what the heck, man, I didn't know how to spell the word friend until about the seventh grade (stupid ie rule). I still spell it wrong sometimes. I also seem to forget letters...since I can't write the word orange without always, without fail, forgetting the n. Another thing is punctuation. I have no idea where to put commas (see the previous sentence), I just end up putting them everywhere. I'm okay with grammar most of the time, I assume, since I'm told it's pretty decent, but sometimes things get mixed up and everything goes everywhere so there's that. You might want to check the thing over after I've looked at it, just in case I screw up somewhere. ...I'm putting spelling everywhere and being contradictory...haha... |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Yaoi...kufufu...just kidding. I'd be willing to look at anything, though I'm a bit more hesitant on the M-as-in-fruit kind of stuff, mainly because I'd probably screw something up. I'd still try, though. Apparently, humor is my forte as I find people laughing at stuff that I say that I wasn't originally intending to be funny, so I guess I'd be able to do humor and parody things more than the others. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Genre-wise would probably be sci-fi, horror, western, and spiritual, as I have no experience in the last two and the first two I just plain suck at (though I can do horror in making games/art stuff, so I could probably give some creepy ideas). Again, the M-as-in-fruit stuff is iffy, but I'm still kind of willing to give it a shot. OC's are also iffy territory for me because...well, because. I apologize for being unable to give a specific reason, but they just kind of do. |
