I'm Magical Narwhal. I'm in high school in the United States right now. My primary language is English, but I've taken five years of Spanish so I'm somewhat fluent in Spanish as well. I'm willing to help out anyone who asks, provided they're actually serious about it. (For example, I won't let people copy my homework answers in school, but I'm always willing to help them understand something. I'm currently helping a lot of my friends with Calculus right now, but the important part is that they asked for help to understand it so they can do better instead of just asking for answers to the homework problems.) With betareading, I only ask that you take my advice seriously, although I respect that you're the only one who can make a change to your writing; that you try to be active if you're writing a longer fanfiction with multiple chapters and that you let your readers know where you're going if you have to be on hiatus instead of just dropping the story without any explanation; and that you ask me to betaread from what I have read or seen since I won't know the characters, basic plot line, or setting without it. As a betareader, I correct spelling and grammar before looking at the piece's content since I find those mistakes distracting, but nobody's perfect. Afterwards, I look at the characters, their development, the situation, and the "voice" or "style". If anything's confusing or could be improved, I make a note of it. Then I send it back to the writer. I'm willing to talk about anything, since that's the way people improve. Like I said, I respect your right not to make any changes; you're the writer.

I'm great with spelling and grammar. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to that area.

I'm not very good at helping with "voice" or "style", but I'm trying to work on it.

I prefer to betaread stories about what I have actually read or seen. It helps to know the characters, setting, and basic plotline so that I can help make your fanfiction the best it can possibly be. I like longer fanfictions because of the character development and the way that the plot is able to take detours here and there, but I'll betaread shorter fanfictions, too. I'm not prejudiced towards them.

If I haven't read it or seen it, I doubt that I could betaread fanfiction about it very well. Please check with me to either make sure I've read or seen what you wish for me to betaread or give me the appropriate time to read it or see it before you wish to have it posted so I can betaread your work as an informed reader.
