As a default, I'll let you know if I come across anything that looks like it could be phrased better and offer some alternative suggestions, but except for spelling mistakes and minor capitalization or punctuation issues, I'll never change anything without running it by the author first. I can also do more intensive rephrasing; if you have the bulk of a story written, but it's not matching up with what's in your head, I can go through and do a bit of rewriting (which probably takes it out of betareading and into ghostwriting, but if that's what you want, well).br /

I'm excellent at finding ways to phrase things and amping up an emotional impact, and I'm skilled at fixing grammar issues. If English isn't your first language, I can look over your stories to make sure turns of phrase and the like are correct.

I do have a tendency to skim stories, so there could be things I won't catch on my initial run-through. Please feel free to ask me to look something over a second time. Also, remember that if you're happy with the way something is phrased, say so and be firm in denying my suggestions.

Give me the emotional hits. Fluff, angst, whatever, as long as there's not sex involved I'll probably love it. Also, comedy and parody are always favorites of mine.

As a general rule, I don't beta anything that has explicit sex. I'll beta a story that has smut /in/ it, but when it gets to the actual sexytimes I will skip past that. Please find a secondary betareader for this. For everything else, I will take it as a case-by-case basis.
