Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm addicted to reading and writing. I understand the need to make a story as good as it possibly can be and I love to help people doing so. I have a good domain of English, Spanish and Portuguese. I've been a writer for about three years, but I have nothing published on FFN yet because I write mainly in Portuguese and I don't have any story completed. As a betareader I help as much as I'm asked to, not more, and hopefully, not less. I work with anyone as long as they can take a critic, can explain me what they need me to do and above all are really commited to work on a story. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm good at exploring the characters' emotions and relationships and put all that into the text. I have a good knowledge about medical situations (such as pregnancy and labour - I have a knack for fanfictions where somebody gets pregnant).I enjoy improving people's stories because for me a well written story in terms of content and grammar, vocabulary and structure, etc., gets the reader's love and attention into it much more easily. I already betaread for about two years. I enjoy it a lot. I'm a perfeccionist, I only stop when I'm proud of what I did. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My domain of English and Spanish, even though is good, has its limits, since I've never been to an English speaking country and I don't spend a lot of time in Spanish speaking countries, even though I go there from time to time. English is the language I'd like to betaread the most, to help non-native English speakers or people who have trouble with the language. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm a native Portuguese speaker and I can manage Spanish very well too (I find both very alike). My domain of English, however, is still a little limited, even though that's the language I'd like to betaread the most, so I'd prefer working with non-native English/Spanish speakers or people who have trouble shaping the text or putting the characters' emotions into the prose. The stories I'd rather betaread are from the following TV shows: NCIS, NCIS:LA, CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY, Castle, The Mentalist, Perception, Forever, Elementary, Bones, Criminal Minds, Nikita, Intelligence, Scandal, Leverage, Arrow, How I Met Your Mother, Switched at Birth, Downton Abbey, Mixology, Ghost Whisperer, Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Sleepy Hollow, Game of Thrones; Bands/Artists: One Direction, Guns N' Roses; Movies/Books: Twilight, Fast and Furious, Unearthly, Sandra Brown's. My favourite kind of stories (the ones I like to read and write and I've handled more) are definetly romances, the angsty ones, fluffy ones, with sex scenes and especially the ones where somebody gets pregnant and where you can see a lot of love and couples fighting their obstacles togheter, action is welcome too. |
