As a beta reader I want to work on clarity and entertainment value. I tend to read from a scientific viewpoint even when reading fantasy, and my expectations are pretty simple. Don't send me a 16,000 word story and expect me to be done with it in two days. As a rule of thumb, please give me at least a day for every chapter you've written. But use your discretion. If you write long chapters, please take that into account. Secondly, please don't send me something in chatspeak that makes no attempt at grammaticality. I understand that betareaders are there to help you improve your work, not re-write it for you.

I am in college so my schoolwork is my top priority. If I am taking to long for you, I will tell you I'm too busy and/or you are free to seek out someone else, it won't offend me at all.

I am very good at semantics - I have good instincts when it comes to word choice. I also have a sufficient knowledge of native English grammar.

I tend to be wordy. I also have trouble with sentence variety and transitions.

Star Wars stories are probably my favorite and the genre I'm most familiar with. Canon (movies I-VI) work best, though I have some limited knowledge of the EU. Fantasy, Science Fiction, Anime and Video Games are all genres I'll feel comfortable betareading.

Stories where graphic murder, torture, or rape are the focus of the plot are NOT my cup of tea. If something like that is just a small part of the story, I can deal with it. But please don't send me your version of Nightmare on Elm Street.
