I am very diligent, and often quite pedantic in making sure that the piece makes sense and reads well. I don't hesitate in clarifying if there is an ambiguous sentence or section, and am happy to re-read sections until both I and the author are fully happy with them. I tend to be quick in betareading the item, as the author will wish to have initial feedback on any major issues while I take a second look at any grammar/spelling corrections /br /br /

My expectations of clients are: That you will be polite and respect that I am taking time out of my own writing to beta for you; That you will explain if you are unhappy with any aspect of my betareading, so we can get a good resolution; That time zones are remembered and if a quick turnaround is required it is communicated clearly at the beginning of the beta request.

I am very good on punctuation, and making sure that the story reads well and flows. I dislike stories that jar the reader out of the 'zone' with clunky phrasing or unclear wording. UK English (both 'proper' and slang) are second-nature to me, and I am happy to check small items/one-shots to ensure that they are correct as well as longer stories.

When it comes to spelling and grammar, I am UK-based and therefore very good at UK English rules. If required I can use American English, but am less comfortable/able to manage the grammar.

Not particularly, although I am uncomfortable reading graphic rape/violence scenes for pleasure, however beta-reading requires a slightly different mindset.

Although i won't read everything for pleasure, I am happy to betaread any stories that you require proofing. I suspect that proofreading stories I would otherwise have no interest in is probably easier to do than if i got caught up in the story as I was editing it!
